Love love love seeing the disconnect start between Mark and Gemma because even though they started out great by making fun of others around them like anyone else would they started deteriorating because they stopped listening when it started becoming something seemingly stupid that they'd make fun of other people for. It became unfun. It became uncool. It became don't tell me how I'm feeling, and I have no idea how you're feeling, and I'm feeling beat to shit. And then it was, well if youre having such a bad time then stop? Then let's just stop? And that's an awful take to have when they're doing something they do want and it gets hard because they aren't being supported. What do you mean? I want to do this, I just at this moment feel badly and you can't connect with it so you'd rather not hear about it. Feels like a chore. Now she only feels safe with the people who are treating her like they're listening and it's okay to hurt and it's okay to try and feel better, even though it's stepping stones to a cult. Mark wasn't able to stop that snowball because he didn't want to look at something so stupid for too long. And that's how he ended up at Lumon. Because he couldn't connect with her while she was there. She was there, but she was gone. He was there, but he was gone. Now she's not dead, she's just not there. Beautiful wrap around. Love that.
