My fiancé went to work to the North. Some time later I stopped receiving his letters. I though he had forgiven about me. I was disappointed and angry. Thats why I accepted the marriage with Ramon Alcantara, although I didn’t love him at all. But on the day of the wedding, my old fiancee Fernando came riding horse, grabbed me and took me away. We got married in another town. Then I found out it was my brother who hid the Fernando’s letters because he disliked him. I thank the Virgin of Zapopan beaus my love came back to me right in time and I didn’t make such a horrible mistake.

A revolutionary ecology movement must also organize among poor and working people. With the exception of the toxics movement and the native land rights movement most U.S. environmentalists are white and privileged. This group is too invested in the system to pose it much of a threat. A revolutionary ideology in the hands of privileged people can indeed bring about some disruption and change in the system. But a revolutionary ideology in the hands of working people can bring that system to a halt. For it is the working people who have their hands on the machinery. And only by stopping the machinery of destruction can we ever hope to stop this madness.

The Saturday morning meadowlark came in from high up with her song gliding into tall grass still singing. How I'd like to glide around singing in the summer then to go south to where I already was and find fields full of meadowlarks in winter. But when walking my dog I want four legs to keep up with her as she thunders down the hill at top speed then belly flops into the deep pond. Lark or dog I crave the impossible. I'm just human. All too human.
