Open your DMs, Gold. Someone familiar should be in there.
"Hey. Dunno if you remember, but I promised I'd look into Revenent for you. Uh. The bird, whatever name you know it by. Anyway, I did find a few things."
...Yeah, he does remember, as a matter of fact. It does take him a while to register what the Dubious Beast is talking about, given that he doesn't know the creature by the name 'Revenent'. XD-Boros, the nightmare Lugia, the sleep paralysis demon... maybe even the Benadryl Hat Man? Yes, all of those makes more sense.
Though, wait. Dubious Beast here found something...?
"First, yeah, it wasn't always a bird. It became that after it came into contact with you. It forced some kind of psychic link to keep feeding off of your fear, and I think it remembers what happened to you in that other facility. The one that got raided. That's when it first started feeding off of you, and it's just kept going since then, even after being moved to the current location. That's why it keeps haunting you, even with being locked away."
Gold nearly drops his phone.
The timing does match up, admittedly. He didn't start seeing that thing until after the rescue. Initially, Gold had thought it was because of the newly-acquired Wesker trauma, but if a nightmare creature had inadvertently attached to him... Well, he'd ask if he would've remembered that, but he didn't even remember the Shadow Lugia at first until Petrel jogged his memory all that time ago.
Hold on. If it was in the Umbrella facility and then got moved to wherever Dubi was...
"That's what I could find in the files and with my own experience with it. It won't leave you unless you can break the parasitism, and I don't know how to do that. Sorry you're getting haunted by the worst creature ever."
Holy shit, they're being serious for once. Please don't ask too many questions about their situation.
Gold barely pays attention to that last part as he begins typing.
you
you're trapped in Umbrella too, aren't you?
sorry, i know, blunt question, but idk how else you'd know about it otherwise
He doesn't really expect an answer to that one, but.
is there anything i can to do guard against it besides having death on standby? i think celebi was able to repel it for a while but
i
don't think that's a permanent solution?
Why couldn't this just leave him alone?
