the world as i see it through my eyes.

i was at softball practice at the park today. i could not help but notice this man in crutches, doing a great job jogging while in crutches. first thing that came to mind... “the nerve of some able people sitting on the couch, saying “i’m tired” while this one here jogging, on crutches, with a smile on his face.”

literally there was fire in the hall. i was sitting at the nurses station coming back from a break when one of the patients was being escorted to the treatment room. all of a sudden the patient stopped, said “oh shit” and as i looked... i seen fire rising from afar. later on i found out after the fire was put out, a patient of mine held the food port hostage, created some type of spark and lit the wool blanket in fire and tossed it out his food port. as i walked back in, my work area smelled like campfire and the whole building appeared to have been a recreation of a scene from the movie apocalypse. smh. let me shower this campfire smell off. will continue to monitor.

being 30, with a good career, savings, and a desire to settle, on the drive back from a children’s party, I’ve opened up a dialogue between my boyfriend and i about finances, home, and marriage. a lot of things sounded good... “i’ll pay for the mortgage, you want your name on the house?, i won’t let you pay for all the groceries, let’s have a joint account...want to just get married?” all of it sounded good, but it upset me... because he’s mentioned that so many times, but there’s no action put to it. i told him not to joke around because it’s not funny to me. it seems like something is holding him back from marrying me. does he love someone else? does he not think i’m the one!?? then i asked “do you not want to marry me?” then he responded “i didn’t say i didn’t want to marry you.” ...silence surrounded us... then i said “you didn’t say you wanted to either.” no response was given.

*disclaimer. i work in mental health. my patients are psychotic. there is no redirection, this is why we just go with the psychosis as an intervention. We don’t want to upset them.” today one of my patients kept yelling at me “hey baby, oh i love you” i then responded with “please, don’t, i’m married.” then he said “i don’t care, i love you.” i kept walking away. later on during the shift, he calls me again to his door “so let’s talk about your divorce...” i just shook my head and walked away... will continue to monitor.

It's been 3 months since we separated. i have been out and about, going on outdoor adventures mostly by myself. I find hanging out with myself enjoyable for this moment, but certain times i wish there was someone i could share this world's wonder with. I been moving forward and taking few steps back. This harsh reality that I am going through a break-up i didn't see coming hurts everytime i think about it. I thought everything was so perfect. But my perception and his reality were 2 different things. Yes there are a couple of guys that linger around. Yes they tell me things every woman wants to hear. I get taken out to dinner. I'm treated special... But there's this missing piece in my heart i hope someone fills one day. "One day my price will come..." Hurry and rescue me already!
