No they didn't, and here's why:
According to the biblical text in Genesis 6:15, God gave Noah precise dimensions for the Ark measured:
Length: ~450 feet (137 meters)
Width: ~75 feet (23 meters)
Height: ~45 feet (14 meters)
By the standards of ancient shipbuilding, it would have been an astonishingly massive wooden structure, pushing the structural limits of what can be built purely out of timber without modern metal internal bracing. Researchers estimate roughly 1,500 to 1,600 animal kinds were required, totaling about 7,000 to 8,000 individual animals, and that's not even including the amount of prey animals they would've had to bring along to feed all the predators. Scientists have confirmed that Earth was already home to millions of species... roughly comparable to the modern baseline of multi-million species (estimates typically range from 5 million to upwards of 10+ million eukaryotic species, alongside countless microorganisms). The arc was simply not big enough to hold every species on the planet.
Now let's say Noah did, in fact, build this ark. Let's be honest: wood decays. Even under ideal preservation conditions, any physical remnants of a massive wooden vessel from several thousand years ago would have completely rotted away, dissolved, or blended back into the geological landscape long before the modern era. Even if it existed, it would be long gone by now. I mean, just look at the Titanic. It sunk a little over 100 years ago, and in about 450 years, it'll be mostly gone- and it was made of metal, which would last far longer than wood.
The image you're likely talking about when you say that "we've found Noah's Ark" is a picture that doesn't look anything like a boat from any other angle. In fact, it doesn't even look like a boat at all. Or at least, a functioning one. Why does it have pointy ends? The points are to facilitate cutting through the water, but it actually decreases lateral stability. They make no sense for a vessel meant to drift on turbulent oceans. The bible is also very clear that it was located on top of the Mountains of Ararat, and the image isn't on top of a mountain at all. It's not even made of petrified wood, it's made of Limnite and Magnite.
Now let's talk about the flood itself!
If a truly global cataclysmic flood, one that covered the entire planet up to the highest mountains within the last several thousand years, actually occurred, geologists, paleontologists, and earth scientists all agree that it would leave behind massive, unmistakable physical signatures across the globe. We haven't found a single sign of this flood happening.
Why isn't there a worldwide, uniform layer of marine sediment (sand, silt, and limestone) sandwiched between older and younger rocks, marking the exact geological moment the floodwaters rose and receded? What we actually see are that rock layers vary wildly by region, continent, and era. Geology shows that different parts of the world experienced distinct and localized environments (deserts, shallow seas, swamps, and mountain-building events) at vastly different times over hundreds of millions of years.
In a global flood, every land animal, marine creature, insect, and human would be drowned simultaneously and swept up in mud. As the sediment settled, fossils would be randomly jumbled together. You would routinely find human skeletons, dinosaur bones, modern mammals, and ancient trilobites buried side-by-side in the exact same rock strata.
Instead, the fossil record exhibits strict faunal succession. Simple organisms appear in deep, ancient rock layers, while more complex organisms (like mammals and flowering plants) appear only in much younger, upper layers. Dinosaurs are never found alongside modern humans or large ice age mammals, consistently separated by millions of years of distinct evolutionary history.
Core samples drilled from the ice sheets in Greenland and Antarctica capture annual snowfall layers going back hundreds of thousands of years. A global flood that submerged the polar regions in warm ocean water would melt or severely disrupt these delicate ice sheets, leaving a massive, universal layer of melted freshwater, sediment, and marine debris around 4,500 years ago, except polar ice cores show an unbroken, continuous sequence of annual snowfall layers stretching back over 800,000 years in Antarctica, complete with stable climate indicators that show no evidence of a global melt.
The sheer volume of water required to cover the globe and subsequently drain off into newly formed ocean basins would create scale-dwarfing erosion features. We would see planetary-scale scour marks, massive directional carving, and uniform sedimentary megastructures spanning entire continents. While geologists do find evidence of ancient megafloods (such as the Missoula Floods in North America or the breach of the Mediterranean basin), these events are thoroughly understood to be regional disasters, leaving clear boundaries and leaving the rest of the planet's diverse geological history untouched.
But no, of course, all of this research can be completely tossed aside because a motherfucking book written by a bunch of men who didn't know where the sun went at night several thousand years ago said otherwise. Please, for the love of fuck, start using your brain. Think for yourself, form your own opinions. Break out of the sheep herd and do some research. You genuinely CAN NOT tell me you've done actual research on this and chose to ignore it, otherwise you're doing the equivalent of putting your hands over your ears and screaming "LALALALALALA" at the top of your lungs like a child. It's time to stop spreading misinformation.
