now on one hand. six of crows should’ve been one whole season and crooked kingdom an entirely different one. i’m talking like 40 min episodes, 12 episodes per season. weekly releases where the fandom goes feral each week because oh my god. are they finally going to let kaz and inej TRULY LOOK at each other? FLESHED OUT character arcs and slow burns that… actually slow burn and make you want to cry and scream and tear your heart out.

oh! hi, same anon as the one who recc'd gilded wolves and the other books here. on gilded wolves, it's definitely not a six of crows ripoff. it's set in the la belle epoque, in an alternate history, and it's more about treasure hunting (and becoming a god? vaguely?) than it is about heists. i think the only heist in it was at the start. i do have my own issues with it, like. i'm filipino and while the filipino character, enrique, was okay as a whole, there was something about him that bothered me? a lot of filipino words were spelled wrong and some things just didn't fit right, i guess. and i've seen enough south asians decrying laila, the indian character (who is definitely written worse than enrique tbh), which. is sad because the author is indian-filipino herself. but i still don't really understand why people call it a soc ripoff because... it isn't lol. there are so many differences between the two and their worldbuilding, which is actually pretty interesting? also i do know that there are south asians who do like laila, and a lot of people who do like the books better than six of crows. overall it's up to you to decide whether you want to read it or not. (also! bc i wanna clarify, tho you probably know already, gilded wolves is young adult, and so is iron widow. time war is adult, though! also also sorry for the long ask haha)
