“Hi, Mister Henry!” Rory shrieks. “Papi said you’re alone and we don’t want you to be alone, because it’s Christmas, so now we brought you dinner! Can I play with your doggy?” Henry’s eyes widen the longer Rory yaps at him. His mouth opens and closes a few times, before he helplessly looks up at Alex. Alex smiles sheepishly. “Yeah, what she said,” he says like a total dork, because Henry’s eyes are really fucking blue and Alex is really fucking screwed.

Henry reaches up and runs a hand through Alex soft curls, free from any product. “I know, love,” he whispers, always able to read Alex’s mind, whether it’s running at full speed or calm and collected, like it is now.

Alex takes Henry’s hand and brings it to his mouth, pressing a gentle kiss to each of his knuckles. “We’re rich.”

Today is a bad day.

Alex knows it as soon as Henry wakes up in the morning. He blinks his eyes open, frowns and rolls into Alex’s front to hide his face in the dip of his throat. Alex doesn’t say anything, but he does hold Henry for as long as he needs. He knows now that it’s the only thing that helps.

WIP Wednesday

Happy Wednesday from a hotel room, because I have a truly bonkers few weeks in terms of travel etc! But you know… have laptop, will write. In theory, anyway. For today's WIP Wednesday, have some more trans!Alex for one of my FTH offerings:

The more he talks, the more words come tumbling out of him, Henry’s soft sounds of acknowledgement enough to encourage him to keep going without interrupting his flow. He doesn’t know how long he’s been bottling this up, and he has no idea why it’s coming out now, but he’s not sure that he could stop the tidal wave if he tried. “And the thing is, I get it.” He grips his phone hard enough that he knows he’s risking cracking the screen again, barrelling forward before Henry can interrupt him with bullshit platitudes. “They’re both out there trying to fix the whole damn world to make it a little better for their trans son, but fuck, I miss being able to come home and having that be the one place I didn’t have to deal with any bullshit, you know?” The silence that follows is so absolute, Alex pulls the phone away from his ear to check that the call hasn’t dropped. “Henry?” “I’m here.” Henry’s voice is cracked and hoarse, and he must realise it at the same time Alex does, because he clears his throat before speaking again. “Alex, I don’t—did you mean to tell me that?” “Tell you wh—” But the words are already replaying in his head, realisation slamming into him all at once. “Oh, fuck.”

I've jumped back into an old fic and wrote almost 1k new words today! Thank you Nico and @blueeyedgrlwrites for helping me stay motivated.

“You sure you don’t want to stay until closing?” Alex asks, grabbing the iPad to close their tab. “This place gets really hopping after midnight.” Pez looks around incredulously at the dwindling crowd. “Oh, you’re making a joke.” “I am, yes,” Alex grins. “Tempting as that is, I need to get Cinderella here to bed before he turns into a pumpkin,” Pez explains, patting Henry on the head. “Hey,” Henry moans. He’s tilting slightly and looks adorably annoyed.

I only have one hour left of Wednesday and it seems like nearly everyone has posted already, so consider this an open tag for anyone that wants it!

wip wednesday!

HI FRIENDS! long time no post. i am LOVING all the games i’ve been tagged in. i promise i WILL be doing them soon!

“Lookin’ for Orion?” Alex asks softly, footsteps soundless through the grass to Henry’s side.

Henry’s eyes cast themselves up once more, sifting through the folds of midnight sky and pinpricked light. The stars are bright tonight; Orion’s belt is blazing just off to the left. Alex saddles up closer into Henry’s warmth.

“Where is it again?” Innocence drips from Alex’s words and he opens his eyes the tiniest bit wider.

Henry turns to look at him with a raised eyebrow and endless blue eyes inked with skepticism. Still, his smile is endeared around the words, “I know you know how to find it, Alex.”

He doesn’t bother denying it. They both know it’s true.

Alex only shrugs and burrows his hands into his pockets. “Show me anyway.”
