Kouichi woke as if bursting out of water, gasping at the air of reality and sitting up off his mattress where the rest of the room didnât seem as disturbed. Waiting for the world to stop spinning, the warrior watched the remnants of stars dance across his vision. But as Kouichi rubbed his temples, he found that the only detail he could remember of such a strange dream was the sheer urgencyâŚ
He was already dressed and grabbing his backpack, sliding into the bathroom across the hallway to shove in some supplies. At the ruckus, his mother who was sitting in the living room watching television perked around and called out.
âKouichi? Are you okay?â
âYeah! I just remembered I said I was going to visit Kouji!â
A soft smile bloomed on the womanâs face, shaking her head at her sonâs forgetfulness. She even helped pack some rice balls to take, which Kouichi took gratefully before kissing her on the cheek and running out the door.
But Kouichi Kimura was not headed to his brotherâs home. No, the message had been clear to him, which was to go to the Digital World. So the human who once had wielded the Spirits of Darkness set off towards Shibuya Station.
Quiet and soft. Two lovely attributes of the dark continent that were so frequently ignored, and that were suddenly interrupted by the ringing of explosions and sharp, blood red streaks.
A stand off between two halves of the same whole. Deep red eyes piercing against bright golden ones. Tufted tail flicking in irritation. Feathered one stalled in the anticipation. Squared off in a tense stalemate.
However, Just as it looked as though the two would clash once more, the red eyed creature fled into the deep forest. Zipping past their golden eyed opponent and also past the strange onlooker that had been observing the end of the scene.
Once it was sure they were gone, the being of gold and coal finally relaxed their shoulders with a sigh and collapsed to the ground. They took their gloved paw and ran it through their scruffy mane of hair. Past feline that twitched off dust from the days work. They were glad the encounter with the other didnât turn into something worse, however, part of them wished they had stayed.
After all. The cat felt so terribly alone here...
