bio
Aria Garces grew up surprisingly well-adjusted for a descendant of the gods. It wasnât something she knew to be aware was different about her, because her parents had always made her feel like she was just as normal as any other kid. She grew up with the knowledge that the gods were real, that two of her grandparents were gods themselves, and that she had divine blood flowing through her. Granddaughter to Kratos and Psyche, she flew under the radar, simply existing normally as a child with one foot in both worlds. She had other demigod friends her age in her community from families her parents had old ties to, and never had to question who she was in the mortal world.
Well-adjusted is probably an overstatement. Sure, Aria has the unconditional love and support of her parents, and good friends at her side growing up, that simply doesnât guarantee a perfectly well-rounded child. She is human, after allâ or part human, that is. Aria didnât struggle hiding underneath the realm of the real world, or volatile powers she couldnât control, or growing up without a parent. She had a great relationship with her parents because her parents are great., but maybe she doesnât let herself really process how hard it is to live in the shadow of great parents. It was a classic recipe for a high-strung over-achiever.
Her mother, daughter of Kratos, was a hero in her time, rising to the occasion many times, defending her own community of demigods from monsters. It was where sheâd met Ariaâs father, son of Psyche, who had been a pillar there too in his own right, loyal and crucial to them without needing a sword. Aria grew up hearing stories of their younger years, their bravery and camaraderie. It was unavoidable, especially since she was always around the people whoâd known them back then tooâ half-siblings and friends whoâd all stayed close throughout their years. It made Aria desperately want to be great, too, but without much physical strength, a helpful power, or even the opportunity to do big things, she always felt she fell short, and strived harder in every other aspect of life. She worked hard to be the perfect student, the perfect daughter, the perfect friend, anything she could to do things right, to be as great as she could be as just... a normal kid.
For a long time, Aria was pretty sure sheâd missed the boat on a godly power of her own entirely. In the training sessions her parents made her takeâ âBecause every demigod needs to know how to defend themselves, Aria, hero or not.ââ nothing ever jumped out. No super-human strength like her mom, no ability to manipulate a soul like her father. Nothing she could easily use in combat, nothing that would physically manifest or was easily detectable.
Aria always pretended it didnât bother her, but it made her feel like a failure. Of course her parents never tried to make her feel less than, and did their best to remind her that there was no need for flashy powers, especially since they also went the extra mile to raise her in an area and environment that was safer, that wouldnât need the defense of divine intervention. But with the anxious thought in her mind of always wanting to be as heroic and powerful as her parents, it hit harder than she could admit.
In her teens, however, sheâd finally stumbled upon it. Because Aria was committed to being good at things, she had learned at early age the importance of being a good friend. She was reliable and dependable, and was always there for her friends. Sometime in high school, while hanging out with one of her young half-blood friends after a particularly bad day, she had placed a hand on their shoulder and tried her best to offer them compassion and good will, and as a soft warmth emanated from her hand, her friend felt their spirit and resolve strengthen. The two young demigods had looked at each other with awe, knowing what had just happenedâ Aria had strengthened their soul. It wasnât much, not enough in her own eyes to be a hero, but it made her feel more whole.
Sheâd always heard of Nemean Lion growing up, knowing it housed and trained demigods since before she was born. Her parents had never gone, and theyâd raised her in a safe haven of their own, so she and her family had never felt the need for it. But when the world of myth became plunged into the public eye, and Nemean Lion took the helm of the spotlight, she couldnât help but feel admiration for the work they were doing. She saw the TV spots and news articles and the way NL took it all in stride, showcasing the top-of-line facilities they housed as well as how they trained the best heroes, technicians, ambassadors, and more of today.
By then, Aria was already in college, already âon her ownâ in her college town in Vermont finishing up her junior year. In the summer of 2021, back at her parents house, sheâd found herself pacing her childhood room day in and day out, debating whether or not to make a transfer to Nemean Lion. It would be wildly different environment, thrust her from the small haven of her hometown into the most top-tier facility in the country, but she knew in her heart it had the potential to make her great. After bringing it up to her parents, with the desire and desperation clear in her voice, they supported her, and agreed it could be good for her, helping her to make the change.
Sheâd arrived last fall, starting her senior year of college, and absolutely fell in love with the campus. Sure, it felt way out of her league, way flashier and more advanced than anything she was used to. Aria was a bow-and-arrow kind of girl, the best of her wielding ability being the small dagger sheâd gotten from her mother. Nemean Lion could do so much more, with the ability to make demigods stronger and deadlier than she knew. Itâs been overwhelming for her trying to keep up, though sheâs full of excitement and anxiousness to be amongst incredible demigods and find a way to make herself great too.

daughter to two demigod parents who were heroes and pillars of their community in their heyday; has a really strong and good relationship with her parents though she feels like sheâs got huge shoes to fill
recently came to nl just last fall after seeing nl thriving in the worldâs eye and helping to create great demigods
just in the standard track, working on college and trying to get in as much training as possible to get stronger
loyal, compassionate, determined
high-strung, stickler, people-pleaser
lives in the moon residence
is very often studying for her college classes, which like a freak she loves, but also loves to poke around in all the different tracks and jobs and marvel at how cool everyone is
connections
Ginny Daniels â best friend! Ginny is one of her only friends, really, and she hangs onto her like a lifeline; while Ginnyâs got a very different personality, Aria loves her to death and would do anything for her.
wanted
mentors â Aria definitely admires anyone who is really strong in their field, and while she doesnât have any particular department she wants to break out in, she would love watching anyone excel in theirs and maybe teach her a thing or two
helping hand â in a similar vein, outsider of work or roles, she could use people who would help show her the ropes of NL in general
friends â while sheâs a good friend when she has them, maybe her anxious and high-strung nature makes it a little harder to actually make friends but god she needs them
crush/exes/unrequited â sheâs kind of a mess, I donât know exactly what could happen here but the world is our oyster
enemies â she can be damper on more adventurous or fun things, just because sheâs a goody-two-shoes so she would always want to do the ârightâ or âsafeâ thing and maybe your character hates that, she can be annoying, I promise
anything! brain always empty but always welcoming
hmu on discord for plotting!! <3
