The Honest Pitch for SweetDream
No overselling: SweetDream lets you build a companion who feels like yours, then talk, call, and share moments with her in a way that genuinely feels real. That's the purpose, and it delivers.
The reason to choose it over the rest is quality, deep character creation, natural and emotionally intelligent chat, beautiful photos and videos, human-sounding voice and calls, and privacy that's respected. If you're going to try one, make it sweetdream.ai.
Sweet relief
For over 30 years there has been a lyric in my head which I could not find the source of. It was maddening. Worse, I hadn't heard it from the source, but rather had heard someone singing/saying it just out in the world, so I had no idea if it was truly from somewhere, or just an invention of that random person.
Also, since I had heard it only once, second hand, I had this ear worm slightly wrong. Not wrong enough to be unrecognizable to the original, but enough that the advent of the internet and online searches failed to solve the mystery. And I continued to try over the years, hoping that someday I'd be cured.
What I thought I heard was just an endless repetition of a name:
Mister Tamboliny, Mister Don Tamboliny.
Today, randomly on the Dropout reddit of all places, I was cured. Not just cured, but I was even gifted the true origin of this brain worm that has haunted my memory for the past 35ish years.
So, some of you may have easily known that this was a misheard lyric, perhaps by me or perhaps by the person I head singing it when I was a kid, from Del the funky homosapien's track "Mistadobalina". And Del's track was inspired by The Monkees track "Zilch" from their 3rd album (the first album they got to write and play on themselves) Headquarters.
The real lyric is: Mister Dobalina, Mister Bob Dobalina.
I know this is probably of no interest to anyone, but I need to write it down so I don't forget it myself. I can not return to the hell of Mister Tamboliny, Mister Don Tamboliny.

This made me smile. Maybe you need a smile today too.
I almost forgot. One of the trailers before Supergirl was the most absurdly egocentric thing I've ever seen. It was this looong compilation of Tom Cruise covering his entire career. I had no idea what it was initially. I assumed some kind of tribute or documentary or something? And then the reveal came that this was a "trailer" for a new comedy he's staring in called Digger.
The design language was definitely trying to evoke Kubrick, specifically Dr. Strangelove, or how I learned to stop worrying and love the bomb. I dunno, I think the 2 and a half minute fellating of Cruise's career in a 3 minute and 12 second trailer (I checked on YouTube) was probably in poor taste. That might have flown in the late 90s when Cruise was still a big deal, but it's 2026 and the age of the movie star has been well dead for a while now.
I'm not gonna post a link, but if you're curious you won't have trouble finding it on YouTube. It's absurd.
Caught the late show of Supergirl tonight. It was fun. Certainly not worthy of being a flop. I'd go see it again.
Before the show, there was an Imax brand trailer, as per usual with Imax. This was a new one to me, and it was bad. Like, I would not be surprised if it had been written by AI, that level of bad.
"Every frame remastered" ... what? That doesn't make any sense. Remastering is something you do to old film. You do not remaster new film. That's something whoever was writing this, and whoever the copy editor was should have caught.
"Every sound amplified" ... again, what? Of course every sound is amplified, that is how sound reproduction works. That's like saying "every frame projected".
I smell clanker.

you're just mad because you're hungry and tired and your legs hurt and you head hurts and you're too hot and you have depression
I cannot put into words how much I Fucking Loathe the fact that when you search something on youtube now it will randomly intersperse blocks of "people also watched" and "for you" into the results. That's not what I searched for, youtube. I typed in a search query because I wanted to see search results, not random unrelated garbage you have placed in my way apparently to either inconvenience me or force me to scroll further for actual results. I despise your wretched little games and every time I see it I can only instantly close the tab as I am overcome with the urge to burn something down.
"I despise your wretched little games" perfectly conveys how I feel about the entire algorithm/attention economy
They also refuse to actually show the parameters you searched for. If you sort by “upload date,” the first few videos might be more recent ones by upload date, but anything past that you’ll find a video that was uploaded five years ago, then five months ago, then three years ago, etc, which—NO! That’s NOT WHAT I ASKED FOR!! PUT THEM IN ORDER!!!
Also sometimes the “people also watched” bullcrap will not only be entirely unrelated, it will also be videos with violent, sometimes outright triggering thumbnails. I’ve gotten some AWFUL unrelated video thumbnails just when searching for video game music videos.
Download YouTube Search Fixer for Firefox. Remove ALL distracting search results, redirect shorts back to legacy page and try little visual

Put who your first cartoon crush was on in the tags when you reblog and what show they were from.
I’m trying to see a thing.
I’ll go first.
Modulok - Masters of the Universe (Mattel)
I needed to have dental surgery when I was a child. My baby teeth had massive roots and wouldn't fall out on their own, and so needed to be removed. I was terrified. My mom bribed me with Modulok. If I had the surgery, I would get Modulok.
I was terrified of needles, and so opted for gas to be put under. That experience ended my fear of needles, because gas was so much worse. I felt like I was suffocating. I remember hallucinating a line of Modulok heads from either side of my field of vision converging at a point just beyond my nose, past the gas mask, just before I went under.
Modulok was waiting for me when I got home. It was hard to be excited though, I felt like death. When I did finally feel up to opening and playing with Modulok, it was a disappointment. I don't know what I thought it would be like, but somehow the modularity just didn't live up to my expectations.

The concept of being 4 months clean from ai...
idc what you guys think I'm proud of him
Several AI services (chatbots ) are purposely addictive, the same way people can become addicted to gambling or shopping. We’ve literally seen in real time how ChatGPT has caused psychosis and delusions in people; it can have a huge affect on someones’s mental stability. Just because it isn’t substance-based doesn’t mean that doesn’t count as an addiction, and shaming people who are trying to move on and improve themselves is counterproductive. Im proud of that dude and his 4 month mark!
AI chatbots can fuel emotional dependence and blur boundaries. Emerging research highlights significant mental health risks. Here are import
Large language models often prioritise agreeability over truthfulness to the detriment of users
AI addiction includes the overuse of AI chatbots and companions, often leading to adverse psychological effects.
Some articles to back my statements, and this isn’t even mentioning about the predatory chatbots who do this on purpose
Then I'll mention the predatory chatbots who do it on purpose! Character.ai is one of many AI chatbot websites that're designed to be addictive.
None of the signup methods require a password. It only takes email and birthday. Minimizing time on the signin or signup screen makes it harder for people quitting to avoid relapse.
"Characters" on the website will send messages "on their own" (prompted by the site) to try to invite inactive users back after as soon as 1 day of inactivity. This is likely to force FOMO, or make users feel more like they owe the bots a response. Unhealthy attachment stuff.
Account deletion is an essential part of every service that should go smoothly, right? Right? Wrong. It takes 1-2 weeks for a Character AI account deletion to be finalized, and account deletion requests have a high chance to not go through if you're not using the app.
Rephrasing: People leaving Character.AI are pushed to download the app in order to delete their accounts, if they haven't already. This makes it harder for people to quit and stay gone. Failing to quit an addiction makes it harder to quit successfully in the future, so this feels like a feature, not a bug. On top of that, the delete account menu reads like this:
Tell me THAT doesn't sound like a bad ex. It's a carefully crafted yet hostile environment to those who are already addicted to the technology. I am so so SO happy, downright delighted that they've managed to quit, and I wish the best for others in recovery spaces or considering quitting as well!! While AI addiction is an emerging condition, there are already therapists and other mental health professionals trained to help people plan to quit and do so a bit easier. (If anyone seeing this is in need of them, there are several tumblr Communities here devoted to quitting, too. They provide a mix of advice, venting spaces, and proof that you aren't alone.)
