Happy Spring/Easter/whatever! I celebrated the season by making a new JSK, blouse, and headband. I found the adorable fabric at Peacy Fabrics and just HAD to make a dress from it! I got the majority of my lace from this shop on Etsy as well. I used Joann’s Stretch Poplin for the blouse, and I really like both the crispness of the fabric and the stretch which makes it so comfortable to wear!

I always try to find inspiration in other lolita garments before starting construction of my own, and this project was no exception. The bodice of my JSK is modeled after Infanta’s Love and Canary JSK, and my blouse is inspired by Innocent World’s Anniversary Happy Blouse.

I will try to get better pictures of the blouse and more pictures of the JSK soon! There are a lot of details in the blouse that are blown out by my low quality cell phone pics, and I want to show the shirring and other parts of the JSK.

I wore this coord to a meet at the Sugar Factory! Now THAT is definitely a wild place to get food :O.

I really should update this more often, both with cosplay and lolita stuff! But today I only have something relatively simple to share. I just received this JSK in the mail, but 92cm is so short on me ;_;. But 3 yards of double georgette, a few pretty trims, and a LOT of roll-hemming later...I have an underskirt! The lower right picture has been lightened so you can see the detail.

I made a new Christmas-themed JSK! I was inspired by this most adorable vintage border print fabric. It features pintucks, a scalloped hem, and self-ruffled netting as the trim. I have a little fabric left over for a couple bows, one for headwear and one at the waist, and I’ll whip that up here soon.

I’m really touched by the response my gingham dress got the other day. Thanks everyone :D. So I thought I’d go back in time and show the first real lolita dress and blouse I sewed back in 2011 (technically I made another set 8 years ago but it was very cosplay-ish so I’ll let it be lost to time).

I started this dress when I found that FANTASTIC Beatrix Potter print at, of all places, Wal-Mart! Not only is it adorable, it’s nice and heavy with a lovely soft hand. Never rule out Wal-Mart for potential fabric finds! The blue is cotton sateen from Joann (and sadly they don’t make it in this color any longer) and most of the lace was stuff I happened to have in my stash.

The blouse was serviceable, but very plain and not made out of the best fabric. I tried smocking the sleeves but I didn’t know what I was doing and it was pretty messy.

I’m going to try using Tumblr again. I do miss sharing my projects with the world at large, and I am very happy with this one!

My ultimate old-school dream dress has always been the Gingham Check Rolled Rose Doll OP by BTSSB (which is actually a remake of the Gingham Check Doll OP), but I thought a dress like that would look nicer on me with a slightly lower waist. And while I was at it, might as well make it in a unique color! I chose a brown and pink gingham and cream colored lace (which I tea-dyed myself).

I modified a pattern from Otome no Sewing volume 7 for the bodice and upper sleeves, but the rest was all rectangles and didn’t require a pattern. I used 5 different types of lace, and utilized my embroidery machine for the roses instead of doing ribbon embroidery like the original. (No, I didn’t digitize the rose embroidery...I rather think there are enough generic rose embroidery files out there in the world!) I’m very left-brained so there’s something satisfying about sewing with a fabric that has built-in guidelines!

I embroidered not one but TWO Anna bodices today! One adult size, and one child size, scaled down 2/3rds. I'm really happy with how it turned out, and I can't wait to see the finished product my client/friend will be making!
