Smart men are never conservative

An exaggerated statement, but it's not a total lie.

A movement built on conspiracy theories, blind loyalty, hostility toward experts, rejection of science, manufactured outrage, and obvious misinformation will attract people willing to ignore facts in favor of emotion and identity politics.

That doesn’t mean every individual in the movement lacks intelligence. History is full of educated people supporting destructive ideologies. But there is absolutely a strong anti-intellectual culture within MAGA that treats ignorance as authenticity and expertise as elitism.
