γFFXV - KINGSGLAIVEγ
Arctus side in relief when he saw the path was toward his apartment and away from the Citadel. He'd talk to his father tomorrow, but for now he could rest knowing he could avoid it for a little while longer.
"I guess," He sighed. "Keep fighting and leave flowers for the ones who can't."
He straightened up in the car and watched Titus. The man was always a bit mysterious to him, always had something slightly off. Slightly hidden. He hoped he'd get to know Titus better one day.
"Thanks for giving me the chance to think about things," He said. "Sometimes it's hard to deal with Dad and Noct. Especially Noctis, since he's never really been outside the city."
He glanced over at Arctus in the seat beside him as he stopped at red light when the young man thanked him. "It's fine."
They all had their demons. They all deserved to deal with them on their on time in their own ways. It wasn't his place to force the prince to deal with his father and brother.
He said nothing more until they stopped out front of the prince's apartment, where he glanced over at him. "I assume you meant to take someone home tonight who wasn't me?"

Nyx had been told he would be doing a private performance tonight and for a very special guest no less. Well, special depending on how you viewed it. A warlord visiting Galahd was cause for concern, but hopefully the man would keep things civil β otherwise Nyx would gladly show that he was more than just a dancer.
He revealed himself on the stage once the man was seated and had been offered a drink, the lightening in the room getting dimmer as soft music started to play. it was routine at this point, of course, but he liked to give it his all despite that.
His hips swayed to the music, his clothes flowing gently with his movements. It was an erotic and sensual dance, one derived from one of their many traditional dances. He didn't speak as he moved, but he did keep occasional eye contact, even offering a wink as he did.
Galahd was a lovely kingdom, he had to admit. He had no real interest in expanding his influence into it, but he still saw potential in the region. He had come to speak to the leaders there, and after some discussions earlier in the day had been recommended to attend a private dance. He was seated, offered a drink, and then the dimming of the lights drew his attention to the stage.
An attractive young man in flowing, sensual clothing took up the stage. He moved in time to the beat of drums. It was certainly an attractive man and an enticing dance. Titus leaned back in his seat, content to just sit and watch.
The cool air was doing wonders for his temper and he found himself beginning to think a little more clearly. Titus wanted him to go back inside. He wanted him to give him a reason to lock him up. He let out a sigh, shifting to lean back against the saloon wall.
"What the hell is your problem? You want to arrest me? Don't you have better things to do? I'm sure there are people who are causing more trouble than I am." Noctis frowned and kicked at the ground, sending a couple of pebbles towards the opposite wall. "So why are youβ"
"I was wondering where you went you littleβ" Noctis was cut off when the very same man he'd been arguing with earlier stepped outside, his tone threatening until he caught sight of the Sheriff. At that point, his tone changed and he wrapped an arm around Noctis as if they were best friends. "Sorry for any trouble, Sheriff. Poor kid had a little too much to drink, and got a little rowdy. Don't worry, I'll make sure he stays out of trouble and gets home safely."
Noctis almost snorted at that. Without the element of surprise on his side, he'd get beaten to a pulp if Titus left β the other man was a lot bigger than him. He wouldn't ask Titus for his help though. He was too stubborn.
"See, we're all good here."
It seemed like Noctis was sobering up the longer he was outside. Good. He needed to. Otherwise, he was going to go right back in there and pick that fight, and Titus really would be dragging him off to the lockup. He watched the younger man move over to the wall, kicking at a few pebbles on the ground.
He folded his arms over his chest, frowning, his eyes flicking over toward the door as it swung open. The other man, the one Noctis had been arguing with, stepped out, expression dark, tone openly hostile until he saw Titus standing there.
The android glanced toward Noctis, but the boy was as stubborn as ever. He wanted to step in, but if Noctis wanted to handle it himself, then who was he to stop him.
"As you say. Evenin', gentlemen," he said, nodding briefly to both of them, then turned to leave.

@generalorcaptain
Nyx had seen this human before. He was probably the most curious and reckless of his pod, always observing humans when he didn't have hunting duty β and years ago he had watched a young one often by the docks.
Often the tiny human would find itself in the water, but it could swim, so it was never a problem β even if it was slow and clumsy. Nyx always retreated then and watched from a distance so he wouldn't be spotted and the humans never noticed him.
One day the human had fallen into the water, but instead of swimming to the surface like he was supposed to, he kept sinking downwards. Nyx had been confused, so he had swum after him, only noticing then that it seemed like the human was falling asleep. It was an odd time of day to do it, but then he remembered that humans couldn't breathe underwater.
So he had pushed the human to the surface and carried him to shore, leaving him there for the bigger humans to find. Normally he would've just let him drown, but he liked this little human who seemed so fond of the ocean.
He observed him many times after that, but then one day he disappeared, along with almost everyone else. There were still people, but none that Nyx recognised.
He had not expected to see the human now, but obviously bigger β and older β than before. He almost hadn't recognised him, but now that he did he couldn't stop himself from approaching.
"You left," he accused, his human speech a little slurred and rusty. Only his head was peeking out of the water, but his full shape could be glimpsed underneath surface.
It was funny in a way how times changed things. When he was little, he had loved the ocean from the moment he saw it, but as he grew older, he began to see his time in it as a chore. He would pull in nets and crab pots while his father worked on ships. Every day, every morning, was spent pulling in the haul, sorting it by the water. Throwing back what was too small and then lugging the rest back home. What they didn't keep was sold off. He so rarely got to spend time just *enjoying* the sea. Enjoying swimming. A part of him came to resent it.
But it had always been there, such a solid, steady part of his life. He remembered the day he'd fallen from the dock and nearly drowned. In that near-haze of dying, he'd imagined someone had saved him. A handsome merman. Now, older, wiser, he knew it was just the current. That mermen didn't exist. But it was still a memory that struck with him.
And then the Empire had come and he had been driven away from this sea. That was, what, twenty years ago? Something close to that. He was no longer the shipwright's son, pulling in crabs and small fish. He was the Captain of the Kingsglaive, fighting a hopeless war. And he was the General of Niflheim, winning that very same war.
It was complicated. He wished things were as simple as they were back then.
He stopped at the end of the pier, looking out at the water. Familiar and not, at the same time. Would the sea welcome him again someday, when the time came, he wondered? He might like that.
The shifting of water near the leg of the pier caught his attention and he looked down to spy a head poking from the water. Dark hair, fair skin, and a rather accusatory frown. Beneath that, there was a body in the water, both human and not.
A merman.
The merman.
Titus just looked at him for a long moment. There was no real denying what he said. "I did," he answered simply.
Regis turned his attention away to glance at the broken glass on the floor, letting out a small sigh at the mess. He'd have to notify one of cleaning staff later, it hardly seemed important now. Though it seemed symbolic in a way, the way that one statement had just shattered part of his worldview.
"Different how?" he questioned, voice a near whisper. Was it truly that simple? He doubted it. He must've done something to make Titus change his mind. To think someone he cared for like this had intended to use that care against him β of course, it was hardly something new in his position. Most people wanted to get close to the King, for power and influence, but this wasn't that.
If Titus was General Glauca, why there could only have been one purpose, couldn't there? To kill him.
"You know I should have you arrested for this." Titus likely also knew that he wouldn't. Intending to hurt him and actually doing it were two different things, after all, and Regis had always been a bit too soft-hearted with those he cared for.
"I and others had believed that you were selfish, focusing your attention on Noctis instead of your promise to assist us in reclaiming out homes. We were battle fodder, a distraction while you and others remained safe and coddled in your walls. I realize now there were... reasons for your focus on Noctis, and more at play than just Lucis and Niflheim."
It was a poor explanation. He wasn't sure what else to say, how to make the man understand just how used and abandoned he and others felt. He was the only one who had acted on it, of course, while others just complained.
And how could he explain that they had promised him their homes back? When the war was over, Niflheim would have no reason to occupy Cavaugh or other territories. They could be returned to their people, just under Niflheim's superficial banner instead of Lucis'.
He looked up again once more when Regis said he should have him arrested. "You *should*," he agreed. And he had half a mind to go to Clarus to make sure he was arrested, frankly, because he knew Regis wouldnt.
Bahamut moved a hand up to rub gently at his neck once Drautos stepped back, curious at the strength the man possessed. He was truly a force of nature with that armour on his side. The Empire had chosen well with him β or rather, Drautos had chosen well with the Empire. They had given him the power he needed, after all.
"You fascinate me," he offered, having no other reason than that. It could be so... dull to simply watch the King and the Prince these days. Regis was adamant on letting the True King run around like a bumbling fool. The Empire was doing what they had done for a while, so they were not any more interesting to watch and the Oracle was studying diligently, like usual. Nothing else needed his attention and so he turned it towards whatever he desired. This time around it was Titus.
"You wish to kill the King. If you succeed, what will you do? Turn your blade on your supposed master?"
He fascinated him. It was that simple? He knew the gods and their ilk were fickle things, but this really left it on full display, didn't it? It irritated him, actually. Bothered him in a way he couldn't quite articulate.
But it wasn't important at the moment.
For a moment, he considered not answering the man's next question. He didn't owe him an answer, after all. But it was there, between them, and he had the feeling he wouldn't get away with just ignoring it. "I will go home," he said, voice firm.

He lost himself, allowed himself to drift along, carried away by the feeling of his own blood in his own veins as it was drawn out. His body sagged gently into Titus', using him for support without shame.
What had he to be ashamed of?
Ardyn kissed Drautos back, tasting his own blood on the man's lips. To him, it tasted rancid, but what didn't?
"More..." he whispered.
Ardyn's weight was hardly difficult to bear. Titus kept him upright easily, holding on to him, even as they kissed. He was hungry with it, the man's blood enough to make his head spin, even before he kissed him breathless.
He actually rumbled a laugh as Ardyn whispered. He lowered his head, lips brushing his neck. "More what?"

Tredd winced, despite himself. "Airship we were on got blown out of the sky. Fortis is-- was-- a bastard, but he knew how to pick his shots. Broke my thigh in the crash." He said nothing about the offer of a free shot. Even if it was worth it (Ifrit's horns, it would be so worth it--) Tredd had a sinking suspicion the punch would only leave him feeling empty.
It wasn't like blaming the captain would ease that emptiness. Titus Drautos had offered vengeance and a way to save a home that hadn't existed in twenty-five years. The rest all had homes to go back to. It was Tredd who didn't, and who had chosen betrayal anyway.
"Ah."
He wasn't sure what to say. Offer sympathy for his leg? Ask about the other Glaives? Offer condolences? He wouldn't. They would do no good. It was the same reason he wouldn't apologize. There was no good in it.
He looked away.
"What are you doing now?"
Okay, Nyx would be lying if he said that he wasn't the slightest bit intimidated. General Glauca was not a guy anyone wanted to mess around with for too long, especially not with that armour of his. He wasn't sure how the Empire had done it, but he sure as fuck was glad that Glauca was the only one with it.
One guy was scary β a whole army with that stuff? Fucking terrifying.
Nyx warps again and debates launching more magic at the General, but honestly? It'd be a waste of magic power and he needs to save it for the warping. It's not like it's doing much anyways, which... how? Also, why wasn't Niflheim making more use of the guy? Whenever he showed up their battles were almost always won. It was like they were toying with them at this point.
"You suck," he yells, just because. He never could go very long without throwing shit around - unless it's a stealth mission. He knows how to behave on those. Somewhat.
Nyx couldnt go more than a few moments without speaking, could he? Titus was fairly sure he was physically incapable of it. His insults really weren't the best, though.
He just shook his head slightly.
He knew Nyx was distracting him. He wanted him to. After all, he wanted the Glaives to escape with the information. But he couldn't give that away. So, with Nyx having warped away from him, he turned back toward the others, trusting his most reckless Glaive to try to stop him.
@generalorcaptain cont. from here
Nyx had guessed somewhat early on that his soulmate was older than him, if the pain he experienced when he was young was any indication. It made him feel less bad about getting hurt himself, though he tried to be mindful of his soulmate, even if there was only so much he could do.
He hadn't expected to find out so suddenly. He had been watching the fight between the Glaive and Drautos together with some of the other Glaives and when he felt a punch to his cheek at the same time as Drautos, he couldn't stop his eyes from widening.
No way. The Captain was his soulmate? Even if he was caught completely off guard, he still managed to excuse himself so he could follow Drautos to his office, closing the door behind him so they had some privacy.
"You... you knew, didn't you? Why didn't you say anything?" Was that Drautos' way of rejecting him? Was it because he was his subordinate? It seemed needlessly cruel, because Nyx wasn't stupid β Drautos had to have figured it out early to react like that, which... might explain another reason why the man wanted him to stop being so 'reckless'.
As expected, Nyx was right on his tail as he headed into his office, coming in right behind him and shutting the door. Nyx was somewhat reckless and could be emotional. Titus could only guess how this was going to go.
He sighed as he sat down at his desk. "I knew for a while now, yes. I didn't say anything because I didn't want to complicate matters for either of us. I'm your Captain."
He imagined that would be a pretty flimsy excuse for someone like Nyx, wouldn't it?

Someone wasn't happy he'd had a series of wins in the colosseum, apparently. He'd been in a winning streak, making a good deal of money for himself and those smart enough to bet on him. And he was fairly sure that was what had sparked this.
This being him getting jumped in an alley by several men, beaten bloody, and then knocked out.
He'd woken up somewhere in what looked like a broken warehouse, certainly still in the slums, tied up and with his head pounding, his body aching. He wasn't about to do nothing, though, testing and pulling on the ropes as soon as he'd gotten his bearing.
He didn't stop, even at the shuffle of footsteps behind him. "If you're not here to beat me again, give me some help," he grunted.

"It would not," Ardyn agreed with his signature cheeky grin and a wink.
His arm went back around Drautos' neck, and as Drautos sank his teeth in, he let out a soft gasp of pure bliss. His eyes fluttered closed, his fingertips lightly digging into the vampire's scalp. As gentle as the bite was not, it still felt so very good in ways he could hardly begin to describe.
It always did.
He would be lying if he tried to say he didn't enjoy that soft gasp. Or Ardyn's fingers against his scalp. The man was appealing in as many ways as he was infuriating.
He closed his eyes, drinking slowly, drawing the man's pleasure out along with his own. He groaned softly, lapping beads of blood from his skin. He sucked hard for just a moment before pulling back, turning his head to kiss Ardyn hard.
"Yeah." Noctis replied with a soft sigh as he removed his jacket and hung it up before kicking off his shoes and placing them neatly beside the door. He stepped into the living room, glancing at the tv for a moment before taking a seat in the empty armchair. "I don't have college tomorrow, so I picked up the closing shift."
Since he couldn't work during the day, he needed to make up for it by taking on as many late night shifts as he could. He was scheduled to work the closing shift tomorrow too. He hadn't been expecting Titus to still be up though. It was pretty late.
"I brought back some leftover sushi if you want some." Noctis wasn't sure whether the man liked sushi, but he figured he should at least offer. The chef had given him a few containers full since it would have just gone to waste otherwise. He was going to plate himself up some, but there was more than enough for two. "It's good stuff."
Titus watched the younger man from the corner of his eye as he took off his shoes and jacket, offering only a slow nod to show he understood. He'd never attended college, so he didn't really know what it was like. He'd gone straight from school to the military, and from there to work, teaching self defense.
The offer of left over sushi surprised him a little. He blinked and looked over to Noctis. He smiled faintly and nodded. "Yeah, that'd be nice."
He rose to his feet, heading for the kitchen to get out some plates for them. "What do you have?"
