Genderflux and Proud

You are never too old to question your gender, for a start! You're completely valid to be questioning at this age, don't let other people or even yourself tell you otherwise. Even if it does turn out to be a phase who cares, sometimes that's just the case. But I will say that strictly cis people rarely question their gender and they rarely come to the conclusion that they like a label other than cis.

Pronouns are part of your gender expression, being girlflux and using she/her pronouns primarily is valid and not something you have to justify to anyone to be girlflux. Not always feeling comfortable with they/them is completely valid!

I hope everyone is doing okay though. Maybe I'll try to answer some of the questions here tomorrow (16th Feb 2023). We'll see. I feel bad about letting this blog die because I know it's something I myself desperately needed as a young new nonbinary and I want other fresh nonbinaries to have this safe space that I couldn't find.

I think I’m mascflux bc I always feel male in some way but how male I feel fluctuates (side note: use mascflux to describe myself instead of boyflux bc I personally find the word “boy” infantilising due to personal experiences but it means exactly the same thing as boyflux) and I know genderflux falls under nonbinary umbrella, but the nonbinary label itself just doesn’t feel like me.

I’m outside the binary, but I just don’t feel nonbinary. Even when my gender feels more neutral than male, nonbinary just doesn’t really fit right. I’m not always 100% a guy but being referred to as male is what gives me euphoria, and my gender identity isn’t strictly binary but being called nonbinary makes me dysphoric? Idk if I’m making sense, I’m just not sure if being genderflux but not being nonbinary is ok.

Of course it's okay! How we feel about labels can be super complicated, like I know plenty of people who identify as nonbinary but not trans, but also plenty of people who identify as nonbinary AND trans.

My suggestion is: one step at a time. Think about what this means for you personally, do you feel dysphoria? What about euphoria? What in your life makes you feel those things? Do you like your name? What pronouns would like to here? What clothes do you like to wear? Really explore your identity and presentation and let yourself process who you want to be. But take it slowly, these things can be super overwhelming.

Also my recommendation if you're just figuring this out, don't feel super pressed to use a specific label. If you feel like genderflux fits you that's great! But it's also okay if any other label fits you, or no labels at all!
