actually caring about the rights and safety of children is so stressful right now because a large amount of the time I'm sitting there internally screaming "THAT'S WORSE. THAT POLICY IS GOING TO ACTIVELY CAUSE HARM TO CHILDREN YOU ARE MAKING IT WORSE." and nobody cares because it's not actually about protecting children but the thing is children actually do need more protection very badly, just not like that. REALLY not like that. and the things that would actually protect children (education, greater personal autonomy, access to knowledge and resources that don't hinge on their parents being willing/able to provide them) would give adults less absolute power over them and that upsets too many people who see children as status symbols and tools and extensions of themselves.

I am my own person but I don't exist removed from the context of my life. The labels I use may reflect the experiences that shaped me.

I hate the "trans women shouldn't talk about their relationship to masculinity" BS. Like, I wish I didn't have that connection to masculinity but I do and I always will. I have thoughts and feelings about it.

Being trans means having life experience with a gender that is not one's own. That's how this works.

Hey remember when everyone was panicking about everyone taking estrogen HRT being put on a registry and that same law making it illegal to import estrogen from overseas and a felony to DIY? Remember when everyone was rightfully horrified about how inaccessible this would make transitioning to transfem people?

Trans men on testosterone HRT are on a registry because testosterone is a controlled substance. It is illegal to import testosterone from overseas and it is a felony to DIY with it. Still, the same people who were panicking over this law for transfems will belittle and bully transgender men who do not DIY or are rightfully afraid of it.

Hey so you know how people always talk about transmasc erasure? Coming across that paper on Tumblr discourse on transandrophobia reminded me of something.

When I was doing my criminology degree, I went to several professors with several thesis ideas, and all of them were denied. These were all ideas based on transmasculine crime and victimology stats. Every professor shot down every thesis I had on ideas related to transmasc victims of various crimes.

Their reasoning? There's no need for this. This is useless. Nobody is interested in reading about trans men and transmascs being victims of crimes. They wouldn't even let me do my thesis on estimating more accurate stats on transmasculine victims of homicide. Which is an INCREDIBLY important thing!

So yeah. Next time someone talks about how trans men and transmascs aren't victims as much, remember this. Researchers don't want to research this. They won't allow people who want to do so, to do so. I couldn't get anyone to advise me on these papers.

the study that concluded trans women on average make less than trans men only took into account full-time jobs, meaning it ignored data from trans people in part time jobs. trans men are more than *twice* as likely as trans women to have part-time jobs, which basically by definition pay less than full-time jobs. from this study (sample size 27,000+ usamerican transgender people) which does include part-time jobs, trans men [in the united states on average] make about 30% less than trans women, which is a PRETTY BIG NUMBER to fuck up on a reporting decision don'tcha think

I am actually so confused and baffled as to what possible reason there is to react like this to this comic. All the artist is saying is that it’s… fine for trans people to be gender nonconforming? That it doesn’t make their identity less valid? Literally why would you be upset about this other than you’re a raging transphobic bigot. Much less making literal death threats towards the creator and directing others to harass them. Actually ghoulish, please report this post and get it taken down because this isn’t okay.
