this is a dead horse at this point, but I do get a little annoyed when people say that I’m trying to emulate Terry Pratchett and failing, because I’ve never been a big discworld person. don’t misunderstand, I have a huge amount of respect for the guy! I think he’s a genius! but the humour has just never clicked for me personally.

so, if everyone in the future could say that I’m trying to emulate WILLIAM GOLDMAN and failing, I would actually appreciate that so much. thank you.

I have endless love for this book. it's set before Europe, but after Australia, and largely everyone dresses and behaves as though it's the 1500's except for Westley the farm boy, who wears blue jeans

For the last several hours I have had terrible smelling farts (possibly as a result of last night's curry disaster). Tomorrow I'm going to be sharing a car with other people for 12 hours and then a hotel room overnight. I am going to bed right now but if anybody has advice on anything I can do when I wake up if it hasn't resolved itself, please help :(

Recap of tonight's events:

Cooking a belated Father's Day meal for the household. My dad likes curry but my mom has the lowest spice tolerance ever, so I am making a mild curry soup. I am exhausted because one poor bedtime decision a few days ago snowballed and compounded with outside factors (including a 12-hour power outage that killed the AC, and prevented me cooking this last night). Was able to nap earlier but am still brain fogged and uncaffeinated.

Recipe calls for red curry paste. I thought we still had half a tiny jar from the last time I made this but it was probably too old so I had bought more. Look in the fridge but I don't see it and I already turned the stove on so I'm not gonna search. Garlic + ginger + lemongrass have cooked for a minute as per the recipe, so I put the curry paste in.

Finish spooning the jar into the pan and stir. Whoops, it was only supposed to be half a jar, right? Oh well, this dish is so mild that double spice is probably ok. Check the recipe. Recipe calls for 2 teaspoons. Check jar serving info.

Serving size: 1 teaspoon.

Servings per container: 25.

Shit.

We were able to eat it (except my mom) but I did not enjoy the experience.

My dad was searching his car for his missing dental prosthetic (single incisor), and he found a packet with two real human teeth?? Like the kind of packet a dentist would give you, and he's had plenty of teeth out, but doesn't recall having two out at once???

#teeth #he bought the car used so theoretically these could be a stranger's teeth.#they look pretty awful since they weren't sanitized and preserved so they've been eroding #and while i was typing this he has found the dental prosthetic! in yesterday's shirt pocket.

Just had a smoke alarm malfunction that had it going off as if there was really a fire (we didn't know it was a malfunction until later); everybody got out of the house quickly and I was able to nab the cat as I passed by. My mom called the fire department; the alarm shut off before the fire engine got there. Maybe 15 minutes after they arrived they confirmed it was a false alarm and we could go back in.

I feel like it's probably not a good thing that I didn't experience any emotions other than vague irritation throughout the whole thing? Just aware that I had a slight headache, I'd probably need to pee soon, and my phone battery was about half full.

Today's experiments: grayscale, airbrush. Rollercoaster of emotions as I was proud of the job I did with the tunic sketch, realized the crab legs were covering it, and then realized that I'd actually messed up (only accounted for the side where the garment opens on the shoulder, not the torso) and the crab legs were covering the error.

Whoops, started this post as a draft and then forgor! Anyway, this guy's name is Leo- obviously short for 'leopard', but also meaning 'lion'- in North American English and French, Arthur- after the mythological king- in European English and Spanish, and Ose- a leopard-headed Goetic demon- in Japanese; I tried to work all that in with a kingly outfit, leonine hair, a leopard skin, and the sigil of Ose.
