It wasn’t often that the Hellfire Company found themselves the innocent party in a criminal venture, but there they were. The organization had been paid a small fortune by an anonymous client to oversee a simple tradeoff at a California pier. They had no way of knowing that one of those present would insist on seeing the contents of ‘ package ‘, or that they would break open the ancient seal on the cask.

There had been no way of knowing that there would be something waiting inside — a man that had been nurturing thoughts of vengeance and wrath for over a thousand years.

They had lost 19 men before they managed to subdue the hulking beast, restraining the John Doe through brute strength and supernatural ability alike. It was like trying to grab hold of lightning, one of the survivors would later describe the experience.

Two days and several deaths later they managed to transfer the cargo to the base of operations for the Company, unsure of what to do with the man considering everyone involved with the trade had been torn limb from limb.

This was the second time that he’d been brought before the White Queen since his arrival. The first had ended swiftly, after one of her men had been foolish enough to strike the back of his knee in an attempt to force him to kneel. It had ended with his teeth buried in the man’s windpipe.

He hadn’t said a word thus far, but at least everyone was still alive today. 

aw shit! headcanon time — random edition

it’s well known and documented that black adam does not need to eat, breathe, or sleep. These handy little blessings are due to his connection to the god Shu, who is also the source of his limitless stamina and endurance ( lol i laughed im fucking lame. )

That being said, ever since his resurrection…he finds himself completely and horribly addicted to snack food. And not even ice cream or baked goods or anything remotely classy. No, he is quite particular in his taste: gas station food. Chips, peanuts, jerky, he just can’t get enough of it. Being from thousands of years in the past, back before things like preservatives and artificial sugars, his sweet tooth is unreal. 

One his favorite pasttimes when he isnt kicking ass and seeking justice is to document which convenience stores carry which items and noting the shift in trends and brands between states/countries. 

“  there  will  be  no  need,  nor  desire  to  betray  you.    if  your  word  upholds, &  no  one  will  be  hurt—–     then  i  will  obey.  ”

His words served as a warning, yes, but there was no hint of malice or malevolence woven into the undertone --- just a cold, unfettering truth. The two sentries posted at the door behind them exchanged a quick, skeptical glance, practically SCOFFING at the arrogance of the outsider. Did he truly think he could face the might of New Asgard with sheer bravado alone?

It was a question that they did not want him to answer, of that be certain.

He’d washed up on the shore a week prior, blood and broken and bobbing amidst the waves. The wounds had been horrific, gaping fissures in his that exposed meaty red and bone white. Even with their advanced magic/technology, none could be sure if he would survive his wounds.

And then, on the sixth day, he’d regained consciousness...and immediately proceeded to, for lack of a better term, lose his fucking mind.

Bright eyes bore holes into the ceiling above, the stranger back in bed in the makeshift infirmary --- this time, they’d made sure to restrain him, keeping the man bound with golden shackles that seemed to hold fast against his admittedly impressive strength.

He swallowed hard, throat dry and full of sand, before responding.

     “ No harm will come to your people. You have my word.

       --- Now release me. Please. “

If you were to ask, Pasha would tell that that was not the reaction she’d expected when she stepped into the room.

At this point, most perps were crawling up the walls, practically spilling their guts just for a chance to breathe some fresh air. Of course, there was a need to be careful; no one wanted a false confession or, even worse, the conviction of an innocent person, but Pasha made sure that was never the case. After all, she had her ways. Most perps talked—eventually.

But this man? He was strange. Immovable. He seemed unbothered and, even worse, unfazed by the fact that he was in custody. So unfazed that he hadn’t bothered asking for a lawyer. Shit, he looked like his ass was about to take a damn nap right in the interrogation room. 

It was almost unnerving. Almost. Luckily for Pasha, she’d faced down a lot worse.

“And exactly what were you trying to warn him about? Because, forgive me, based on what I saw at the scene, I find that a little hard to believe.”

There were no signs of fear or hesitation in the eyes of the New Orleans native --- she held with with an icy cool regard that threatened to send a genuine chill running down his magically reinforced spine. This was a woman that would not be bullied or beaten into submission.

Good. He had little patience for the weak of heart.

     “ His death. “

 He wanted desperately to lean back in the chair, but they’d shackled his hands through a loop drilled into the surface of the table --- perhaps they wanted to keep them out in the open, despite the fact that they’d found no weapon on his person during the body search.

Adam scooted closer instead, threading his fingers together as he hunched over the table like a living, breathing gargoyle.

     “ There was something wrong, wasn’t there? Was his         body already decaying? Desiccated? Coated in a         strange, gray moss that smelled of ROT? “

His head tilted, solid stone shifting as a curious expression tugged at the corner of granite lips.

in adam’s main verse, the rock of eternity is both the nexus and origin of all magic in the universe. It was created long before documented history, forged from a piece of stone from Heaven and a mating slab from Hell. It is a place of eerie majesty, resembling a giant stone diamond suspended in the mist between time and space.

         “   shut   the   fuck   up,   ”         it   hurts.   the   searing   pain   camouflaged   by   exhaustion   ———   it   flares   up   whenever   she   moves.   whenever   she   inhales.   they   must   have   drugged   her   with   something   for   her   healing   abilities   to   stagger:   there’s   no   tell-tale   heat   curling   around   her   arm,   and   her   ribs   are   protesting   loudly.   she   wraps   fingers   around   her   arm   and   twists,   the   scream   leaving   split   lips   visceral,   body   almost   falling   to   the   ground   with   the   sheer   force   of   it.   but   she   doesn’t   trust   him.   hadn’t   trusted   him   to   do   it,   this   stranger   who   seems   to   be   able   to   look   right   through   her.

      they’re   not   dead.   the   sea   of   people   around   her   merely   knocked   out.   it’s   not   in   her   nature   to   kill,   although   maybe   it   should   be.   maybe,   after   everything   she’s   been   through,   with   igh,   with   kilgrave   and   now   this,   she   should   be   less   morally   constrained.

      “   do   i   look   like   i’m   one   of   those   assholes   ??   ”         spit   out,   molten   hues   cutting   across   the   mess   to   his   form,   then   back   down   to   her   own   hands   stained   crimson.

The vehement curse fell on ignorant ears, though the intention behind them rang true. The lioness was baring her fangs once more, the fire still burning brightly behind the flecks of green in her eyes. Their gazed remained locked even as she FORCED her arm back into the socket, Adam’s lips pursing together at the loud pop that followed.

Even walking blindly into the situation, it didn’t take much footwork to realize that this woman was not his enemy. Rage and panic radiating from her in waves, which made the fact that their apparent mutual foes were still breathing a curiosity.

His long fingers curled around the back of a computer chair, dragging an abandoned lab coat from the plush and pulling it snug across his broad shoulders. It did little to hide his person, but at least he wasn’t bare assed and bewildered like a newborn child.

     “ Very well. Then that makes us allies, for the time being. “

Something in the distance caught his attention, the titan’s head snapping to the left so fast he felt his joints snap. There were footsteps in the distance. Heavy. At least eight, perhaps more.

His lips pulled into a faint, wicked smile.

     “ We have company. Feel free to hide and lick your wounds, lioness.

Me: yeah so do you.

Them: ...what?
