Gavin was looking for a game that he could play where he could also break out conversation. He wasn't the most confident guy when it came to meeting new people but he knew to feel comfortable in his new home, he would have to get himself out of this feeling of being scared so just needed to throw himself into the deep end. As Gavin saw the dart board, he saw someone waiting and the game being available, he smiled as he walked over. "Want a game?" He wasn't exactly the best at the game but he was always willing to have fun trying. "I'm Gavin by the way."

Gavin was excited there was a social event near the time when he had moved to the place. He needed a reason to make new friends and what better way than doing it whilst also being competitive. He walked around the venue as he spotted the skee ball game and smiled as he walked over to it. He used to play this a lot with his mates back in Chicago. He walked over to see someone there as well so now he was happy to see someone else there because he had competition, "You ready for some competition here?"
Even if it hadn't been football season, Kennedy still liked coming to Touchback. A sort of camaraderie between those watching whatever sport was on, even if she may not have been invested herself. Shrugging off her blazer before stepping through the doors, her eyes caught the screen. The World Cup, something she wouldn't mind watching some of. Heading toward the bar, she ordered a glass of wine before the other spoke up, looking over as he spoke. "Honestly, I'm not sure what to expect. I'll just cheer when whoever the collective bar is rooting for scores," she gave a teasing roll of her eyes. "Gavin, hi! I'm Kennedy or Ken if you prefer. I think we've briefly met around our neighborhood, but nice to formally meet you."
Gavin was looking around trying to understand the place before he focus on the woman in front of him for a moment, "Well I am taking you're a fan of the game? Or do you just enjoy it for the social side?" He asked as he got to the front of the queue and ordered his drink, "Nice to meet you Kennedy. I think I have seen you around. Can i get you your drink whilst we're here?"

While JJ often preferred to grab a drink at Forty after a hard day's work, he had found himself at Touchback that night so that he could catch the game. Truth be told, he could not care much about the World Cup. He never did. If anything, the fact that Boston was one of the hosting cities had made him feel as if he were missing out on all of the fun. His social media was now flooded with Europeans experiencing Boston's culture for the first time. It made him miss the city that was once his home. A part of him did wish that he could be there, in the middle of all of the action, even though he was only a few states away. He did not mind it, though. His life was here now, in Merrock. And he could just catch the game at Touchback. "Uh... I'm not sure. I haven't been following the World Cup all that much." Unless you counted the hours that he had spent scrolling on Instagram, watching the Scottish fans gathering at the Boston Common to break the record for the most amount of Irn-Bru consumed, as following the World Cup. "I'm just here because I want to catch a glimpse of Gillette Stadium," he admitted, chuckling softly. "It's nice to meet you, Gavin. I'm JJ. I don't think I've seen you around before. Are you new to town?"
Gavin laughed a little looking over at the guy he had started conversation with, he was greatful that he was putting himself out there even if he was inside panicking. He looked over at the guy and laughed, "Oh well at least that makes two of us. I don't follow that religiously but I mainly came as a way of getting out there and trying to make new friends." He smiled looking over at the guy, "Nice to meet you JJ. Is that short for anything? I am new to town, moved here for a job at the Merrock Times. Is this your home town?"
Mandy frequented Touchback often because she had been finding herself there before she and Stelly had started dating. Even she knew next to nothing about sports, and she always had that excuse. And she still knew next to nothing about sports. Now that they were very much together, the other bartenders knew to expect her especially when Stelly was on shift. Besides, the drinks were good and she had no problem admitting that either. So tonight, Mandy was mostly preoccupied with her phone and chatting with a client about a commission request when she noticed someone talking to her. She blinked a few times. “Mmm… no, don’t know who is playing but I know the biggest story is that folks visiting the states for the first time are trying out Taco Bell and enjoying a Baja Blast while watching the games,” she nodded, taking a sip of her drink. “I take it you’re a bigger fan than I am?” She grinned at him. “Mandy.”
Gavin stood there looking around as he got closer to the chance to order his drink before he looked over at the woman in front of him and laughed a little shaking his head, "Well I am glad i am not the only one who has no clue who is playing." He smiled looking over at her for a brief moment, "Oh not really a fan of football. More of an Ice Hockey and Basketball guy if you ask me. But being new to Merrock I thought this would be a good way of making new friends and meeting new people." He shrugged before smiling, "Nice to meet you Mandy, do you have a favourite sport or is sport not really your thing?"
"Who's playing tonight? You have to ask?" queried Rina with a laugh, the England flag painted proudly upon her cheek. She'd decided to stop by the bar for some company —- she hoped that maybe it would actually be a good time to watch the England game with other people. But then again, who really knew? She might end up leaving by halftime and giving up on the whole thing.
Gavin stood there as the queue went down to get a drink before he laughed a little, "I guess I should have guessed with the England flags everywhere. Guess I will be routing for them for my mom. Who are they playing against?" He asked as he ran a hand through his curls for a moment. Gavin had no idea who played who in these games and it definitely confused him.
"Argentina vs Algeria," Kellan said, not looking up from his phone, where he was checking some scores from earlier in the day. He wanted to pay better attention, but the farm required his energy more than watching soccer. "It should be a good game, it's been an interesting day going off of the scores." He caught the eye of the bartender, ordering a non-alcoholic beer. He had too early of a morning to drink. "I'm Kellan, but I don't think you want to hear my soccer commentary, so feel free to talk about something else. It is more enjoyable to play, but I get a little bit too into it at times. And in my head."
Gav nodded as they moved slowly towards the bar before looking over at him, "Oh that's good, I am glad it is meant to be a good game. Are you routing for any country in particular?" He knew that the World cup was a big thing and people had certain countries they routed for. He laughed a little and nodded, "it's good to meet you Kellan. I mean I honestly don't mind football talk, it's not my favourite sport to watch. I am more of an ice hockey fan or basketball fan but I can enjoy a game or too. I can imagine playing it is fun, when you say you get into it, do you take it very seriously? Or do you just play for fun?"
Touchback was not one of Rafael's usual haunts; he understood the appeal of the place, with the loud, glowing TVs, the baskets of fried foods and, of course, the beer that seemed to never stop flowing, but... he couldn't say that it was his first choice of venue when he went out drinking, normally preferring Forty or Jack's or something more like Evolution. But an old friend had wanted to catch up and suggested it, and who was he to turn down an invitation for something that would hopefully end up being a good time? And, if nothing else, he could watch a game of soccer, since that seemed to be on everyone's mind right now. Years ago, he would have followed along diligently, attended every viewing party he could. But now...? At least he could watch it in a sports bar. "I'm still trying to wrap my head around someone else calling it football," he laughed, gesturing to the TV screen, "I grew up in Italy, so it's football to me. But I moved to New York for college and had to remember everyone here calls it soccer. So I like you already, Gavin," he extended his hand with a smile. "Rafael."
As he waited on the queue to go down so he could order his beer, and although he wasn't the biggest fan of the sport he could appreciate why people loved it. He laughed a little shaking his head for a moment, "Oh Italy, must have been amazing to grow up there. Well although I grew up and was born in the Windy City, Chicago, my mom was born and raised in England and then moved to the US after she finished studying and then met my dad in Chicago and never looked back but she always told me off if I called it Soccer, she didn't understand why it was called that considering you are using your feet to hit the ball." He laughed at the memory of his mom, sometimes bringing her up pained him but he also knew the only way to keep the memory alive was to talk about them. "Good to meet you Rafael. Do you come to touchback often?"

"Sushi and boba, you say?" Erin pursed her lips for a moment, tapping her chin as she glanced over at the menu once again. "Should I get the spicy California roll or the shrimp tempura roll?" She asked, pondering for another moment. "Oh, I don't know what I want. Maybe I'll get both?" He turned back to the other, offering him a smile. "I've heard a lot of good things about this food truck, so I'm sure it's all delicious," she assured him. "I'm a lawyer. I have to go to court for an adoption hearing this afternoon. So, I want to make sure I get some food in me before I have to head back to work."
Gavin smiled and nodded, "I do say, I think that would be a nice treat for yourself." He smiled before running a hand through his black curls for a brief moment before thinking about it, "Oh two very good options, I would personally go for the spice california roll however the shrimp tempura also sounds heavenly. I think you should go for the shrimp one." He was probably not the person to recommend food to people but also he did like good food especially good sushi. "It smells delicious so hopefully it is ad good as it smells." He nodded. "Oh wow, that sounds like... intense. How long do the cases go on for? I hope it goes well. Of course, need to be proper fuelled up before a long afternoon."

Gavin was trying to get out of his comfort zone, honestly if he would be watching the football game at his apartment but honestly he knew he needed to get out and socialise. He loved watching the game so he found a bar that usually played the sports and went to Touchback. He enjoyed football, well he preferred playing it to watching it, he didn't really enjoy watching it. He was more likely going to watch Basketball or Ice Hockey but he thought this would be a good way to meet people as a lot of people went to bars even if they weren't a fan of watching football. As he got to the bar to order his beer, he waiting for the queue to go down before he saw someone in front him also waiting, "Hi, so do you think we're in for a good game? I am not a massive fan of watching it, I would rather play. But if I am going to watch first I need a drink in my hand, second I am just hoping something interesting and fun happens? Do you know by any chance who's playing tonight because I don't but thought it would be worth coming since it's world cup season." He laughed a little, "Sorry, I ramble when I am nervous and if you don't like football that means absolutely nothing to you. But Hi. I'm Gavin." He said awkwardly trying to put himself out there.

Standing in front of the food truck, Erin stared at the menu before turning over to the person next to her. "You know, I really don't know what I want to order. Any ideas?" She asked, shrugging before she turned back to glance at the menu once again. "Man, I do love a good boba and the weather's perfect for it. But I do want to grab a bite to eat before heading back to the office. I still have a long afternoon ahead of me." Not that she was complaining. Erin loved being able to get out of her office every now and then, especially to get some fresh air now that it was summer. Today was just one of those days, and a comforting meal was exactly what she needed.
Gavin had a short break before he needed to get back to continue his story he was writing up for the paper, he was really trying to impress them at the paper and he was only given a small segment but he knew he needed to prove himself. He decided to go get some food from the sushi truck he saw, he was craving some good sushi. As he stood there, he looked over at the girl who was in front of him and smiled, "Why not get some good sushi and a boba as a little treat? I am going for the salmon and avocado sushi, it looks divine." He smiled, "What do you do that means you have a long day ahead?"

Although he is primarily an extrovert, he is still working on stepping further out of his comfort zone, becoming more confident in himself, and embracing a more outgoing side of his personality.
