IM CRYING I LOVE THIS PHOTO HAHAHAHA I cosplayer the boob master for like 2 hours at Katsucon and it was hilarious. Like 2 bras, 2 pairs of socks, and tons of makeup to make it look like I somewhat had boobs and I couldn’t stop laughing. On the one hand you can approach it from almost any skill set you are interested in. You can have a room full of the same character and everyone will have approached the character from a slightly different angle. Makeup, sewing(dyeing, plushies, serger, hand sewing, machine sewing), wigs, posing, props(metal working, foam, clay, painting, leather working, electronics, more I’m forgetting), acting, and more I’m surely forgetting. It means each cosplay slightly different and interesting. It means you are constantly trying to learn more skills to make things just a little cooler. You can run into someone who did the exact same character in a completely different way and you will walk away thinking I need to learn how to do x skill. And this is constantly happening for everyone. This is also the worst part. Pretty much every discipline has its own set of skills and tools. Maybe you decide that your next costume could use some leather straps, well get ready to throw down some money. Do you think you could look more like your character if you mastered some makeup techniques? time to drop a ton of cash on makeup and slowly start learning skills over time and costumes. Do you wish you could sew your own outfit? Welcome to the world of sewing machines, picking fabric, ironing and a bunch of other little skills and expenditures. It can be intimidating.You leave the convention with a list of awesome skills you would love to have but you can only learn so many at a time. So you are always staring at cosplayers who have mastered or are mastering a different set from you thinking I wish I could do that. It gets really expensive and sometimes its really hard not to try and jump in by buying every possible tool. Its hard so restrict yourself to a manageable number of skills.   As you work at it you gain skills. You create interesting solutions using what skills you have learned. You compensate for weaknesses in one skill by combining it with other skills. As time goes on other cosplayers look at you the same way you look at them. Its this beautiful, expensive hobby that has you constantly learning new skills. 

I cut these little leaves off of a larger brass stamping, drilled holes with a jewelry punch, and stitched them straight onto the dress. There are a few other leaves scattered around the design as well.
