One of the biggest of its kind in our night sky, the emission nebula which appears brighter and four times larger than Orion Nebula. Despite there are large number of globules, open clusters, dark and bright regions and even dust-pillars in it, its most interesting part is the star system which the nebula was named after, the famous Eta Carinae, the yellowish-reddish looking star in the picture.
The Cigar Galaxy emits 5 times more light than the Milky Way, although its diameter is only 1/3rd of the diameter of our galaxy. When so much energy works in so "small region", there must some extraordinary things happen. That is the case with Messier 82 too.
The Eagle Nebula, one of the favourite objects of amateur astronomers can be seen in this photo, with the Pillars of Creation in it, a formation made World famous by Hubble Space Telescope. Although the name sounds a bit pathetic, understanding the phenomena happening in those pillars can explain why that name was chosen.
The Silver Dollar Galaxy - NGC 253
The famous galaxy in constellation Sculptor is called The Silver Dollar Galaxy, but it is also known as The Sculptor Galaxy. It is the third brightest galaxy in the sky after the Milky Way and the Andromeda Galaxy.

The Flaming Star Nebula - IC 405
This hydrogen nebula located in the heart of Auriga is being ionised by the runaway star AE Aurigae. The nebula got a quite catchy name: The Flaming Star Nebula, however it does nothing to do with the physical processes happening in the object, it describes the visual appearance very well.

The Anteater Nebula - NGC 6726-27
The southern counterpart of constellation Corona Borealis is Corona Australis, in which, beside several other interesting objects, there is a giant molecular cloud complex, the Corona Australis Cloud Complex, a part of which is shown in the photo. This area is called The Anteater Nebula by amateur astronomers, because of...

Centaurus A Radio Galaxy - NGC 5128
Centaurus A Radio Galaxy is one of the most famous objects in Centaurus, and as its name suggests, it is not an ordinary galaxy at all. There is a supermassive black hole in its core emitting million light-years long jets in which matter travels almost at the speed of light.

The Sail Boat Cluster (NGC225) and vdB 4
The name Sail Boat Cluster (NGC 225) was given to the open cluster located in the constellation of Cassiopeia by Rod Pommier, referring to the visual appearance of the object. There are a lot of gas and dust clouds around the cluster, part of which is being lit by the nearby cluster members, making it shine in blue.

The Cat's Paw Nebula - NGC 6334
Cat's Paw Nebula (which is also known as Bear Claw Nebula) is located in the constellation of Scorpius, so it can be best observed from sites having low latitude. At first glance it seems to be one of our galaxy's many star forming regions, like the Orion Nebula or the Eagle Nebula with the famous Pillars of Creation, and arouses interest only because of its appearance resembling a cat's paw, however the intensity of star formation in the nebula makes it one of the most productive star forming regions in the Milky Way.

Caroline's Rose - NGC 7789
The appearance of this open cluster is resembling a rose due to the arrangement of it's stars, when observed with a telescope. The cluster is named after it's discoverer, Caroline Herschel. In addition to it's beauty, like all star clusters, Caroline's Rose helps astronomers to get better understanding of star formation and stellar evolution.

The Antennae Galaxies - NGC 4038-39
Antennae Galaxies (NGC 4038 and NGC 4039) located in the constellation of Corvus had been originally similar to our galaxy the Milky Way and Andromeda Galaxy both in size and structure, but they already traversed each other once some hundred million years ago. A very similar collision will happen to Milky Way and Andromeda Galaxy in the far future.

The Propeller Nebula - Simeis 57
Although Propeller Nebula (Simeis 57, incorrectly DWB 111) is quite famous target for astrophotographers due to it's spectacular appearance, we actually know very little about it.

The Pencil Nebula - NGC 2736
The Pencil Nebula visible in the image is a small part of the famous supernova remnant called Vela SNR, in the constellation of Vela.

The Southern Pinwheel Galaxy - Messier 83
Like its northern sibling Messier 101, the Southern Pinwheel Galaxy has numerous star forming regions and it's arms are dominated by young stars, giving similar appearance to these galaxies.
