Like I scrolled through the subreddit yesterday and found this post talking where OP described it as the worst scene of S4 and the comments were flaying him alive for it.

Everyone was saying that they thought it was great, in character, necessary to reinforce Butcher and Becca's relationship as unhealthy.

I'm sorry, did you watch the fucking show?

Becca says to Butcher's face he idealised their relationship and was always looking for an excuse to go postal. She said she was too terrified he would become violent to tell him she'd been raped. It's pretty obvious they were a flawed couple at best.

Making Butcher a cheater is the most obvious attempt to destroy any redeeming qualities he has left at that point in the show to set up his villain arc (which never even happened btw) and to make it clear that it was never about Becca, but simply Butcher's lust for blood.

It's dumbing down the characters to reinforce plot points we already knew. It's making Butcher less interesting as a person to make sure that we couldn't possibly like him.

Because let's be honest with ourselves here - is it more interesting to have a character who is a terrible person but genuinely loved someone and was loyal to them, or to have a person who just clung to the attention given to them by another whilst never really having it in them to dedicate themselves to their partner?
