This year only 57.5 US million US adults have used a smartphone to book a trip, which is up by 14% in comparison to the last year. That also represents 81% of all mobile travel bookings.
Moreover, it’s much easier and preferable to book your travel at the last minute on mobile devices as it’s always there with you in your possession at all the times. There are better travel deals available for last minute online bookers on mobile apps as compared to desktop sites.
As per Chris Bendtsen, forecasting Analyst at eMarketer - “Consumers are booking more travel on mobile because of availability of larger smartphone screens, better and easier mobile payment methods and overall time spending habits shifting to mobile. Hotels, Airlines and online travel agencies have certainly improved upon their user interfaces and made them customer-friendly for both, mobile apps as well as their websites. ”
