The Road Trip pt1
There was something different about that first roadtrip. We where both fresh out of college and wanted to spend one more summer exploring before we joined the workforce. We decided to take your Toyota to save on fuel and because my truck was 15 years old and mostly rust. You did love to roast me about how it would soon be a Flintstone mobile. I grabbed all my old camping gear from when I was a scout and you packed the weed.
We had some savings from odd jobs and campus work, you had been working at the library when we met. I loved how much you loved reading, always surrounded by a stack of books you could hide behind. Anyway we had some money saved up but not alot, that meant cheap food and cheaper beer.
We started our road trip In NJ you where my passenger princess in charge of snacks and music ( plus reading bot even long car rides would keep you from your books. We made the Catskills by our first night we grabbed White castle on the way, nothing quite hits the munchies like sliders. You stopped after 2 leaving me with the other 8, not that I minded they where good and we didn't want to attract any animals. Camping was fun, a late night pot of coffee kept us up till the AM laughing and talking about whatever random thoughts popped into our head.
The next day we made pancakes for breakfast, maybe a few too many but I was happy to polish them off. We drove to a cool swimming spot you found and had some PB&Js for lunch before hitting the road again, this time heading for the Fingerlakes. The second night was much like the first, we grabbed McDonald's for dinner but this time we found a cute little ice cream spot overlooking the valley we took pictures during golden hour and you insisted I try some of yours.
It started raining that night and mostly of the following day but we still got a small hike up to the waterfall "the rain makes it better" you said and honestly you where right. Soaking wet and not in the mood to set up camp on the we found a small mom and pop spot for food, the portions where huge and we had lots of leftovers. We stopped at a cheap motel off the highway and took proper showers. We watched TV and relaxed, as much as I love camping and being in nature something is so nice about a hot shower and a cold bed. We got stoned again and I polished off the leftovers, yours and mine, after we made ample use of the bed. The next day we where delighted to find a continental breakfast simple as it was it was money we didn't have to spend on food.
We had a long day of driving ahead as we made our way to Lake Erie we spent most of the day seated in the car snacking on chips and energy drinks. I wanted to visit the Dunkirk lighthouse which had some wonderful views. You found some cool antique stores to explore, we walked away with some great finds. We found another hotel and ordered pizza I ran out while you showered, by time I got back you where already asleep. When I tried to wake you you just snuggled down further into the blankets, I ate most of the pizza but saved you a few slices. By now our money was running low and both of us where looking forward to home.
We spent the last day and night In PA, wanting to make the most of it we stopped to see all the sights. On the way we found a county fair the rides where admittedly a bit dull but the food was good and following the rest of the trip I naturally ate way too much. Who cares right? Its just a little vacation weight I was already a bit chubby anyway. That night was beautiful and clear the moon was new and the stars where out. After a few too many smores we laid out under the stars enjoying eachother and the quiet.
By time I dropped you off and made it home I was beat I didn't even shower or unpack before passing out on my bed. When I came to it was already night groggy and a bit disoriented I made my way to the bathroom to clean up. With a bright idea to check the scale it dawned on me that I hadn't just gained a few pounds. 15, 15 pounds in 5 days. It was alot to take in. But at the time I wasn't yet aware of what my future held.
As I said there was something different about that roadtrip, and nothing would be the same again.
This is my first attempt at writing any kind of feedism work and I kind of wanted to ease into it . Im happy with how this came out but would love to hear other opinions and criticisms so that I can improve. This was supposed to be a short story about a feeding roadtrip but it will probably have a few parts, not sure where it will land. Thank you.
