I ask since I've been very scared myself, feels like I chose the wrong years to be an artist
I get the fear honestly, art in general for the first half of the decade up to now has been threatened on various fronts: GenAI, layoffs for the purpose of hiring A.I., creatives getting fucked over with their works being sanitized to become marketable, a lot of companies and studios preferring to work with A.I./working with artists just to dump them prematurely because of a shift in gear towards using A.I.... it's been a *very tumultuous* couple of years. But I would rather digress that thinking negatively of the situation, right as it is to be upset about it, is giving up too easily just because the news has been saying it is.
I would rather encourage that you keep creating despite these things. Don't let yourself be discouraged that big names and companies are turning a rotten leaf bearing a huge middle finger towards artists to keep more money in their pockets. There are still studios and creatives in the indie space still fighting to keep art alive and human, and even if they're facing hardships of their own (in this case monetary ones, as you know, these are independently funded), remember that inspite of it all, you shouldn't feel like it's a horrible time to be an artist-- be spiteful about the whole situation enough to be determined to *continue being an artist*. Because it's better to keep drawing, than to believe you picked the wrong time to be an artist because of what's happening around you. No time is ever the wrong time for art or being a creative.
And remind yourself that this is all, first and foremost, done for you first, catered to you first, for the vision and creativity you want to put out because it was first made for you.
