My life is nothing

Yeahhhh so I kinda bamfed out here and I apologize for that. Y’know how 2 months ago I was like “hey look I made an OC blog?” Well it’s not longer just OCs so I’m gonna move Nyx over there. Any threads I have going here are free to port over. I’m gonna be moving all my verses and stuff as well. It’s literally the exact same Nyx just on a different blog.

“…Well, for starters…I didn’t go to school with you, so there’s that. I mean, what’s the title of prince mean to an eight year old, anyway?” It had meant everything, and everyone in his class had known that. But of course, no one ever paid any attention to the weird chubby kid, so he hadn’t even bothered trying to approach Noctis. The thoughts bring up a dark coldness, and he pushes them away quickly. “And Noct’s like….really kinda boring for royalty. You guys, everyone in the Glaive, you’re all super cool, because you guys all came from different places and got into a super high up position! You’re like superheroes, in a…weird way.”

There’s a slight grin on his lips as Prompto talks, spouting off about how cool the Kingsglaive is, particularly when compared to a boy that tries to just blend into the crowd- even if that boy fails due to his birthright. It seems if anything, Prompto looks up to him, sees something familiar. A man born a commoner but achieving great things. 

“Okay, look.” Prompto huffs, his face a bright red and illuminating his various freckles. “Noct was like–this is different! I dunno how, but it is! He never acted like a prince in school, and he was never really on TV the way you guys are whenever something happens! Like yeah, okay, Noct’s the prince, but he’s like–not a prince in a weird way, and it’s–s-shut up!”

Prompto is fumbling with his words and his face is red as a tomato. He’s trying so hard to defend why he’s flustered now and not with Noctis, but if Nyx had to guess he’s avoiding the real reason. All signs point to the kid having a crush, and a rather large one at that. His behavior did a 180 the moment he realized who he’d jumped on.

Oh. His eyes widen when Nyx turns, and he’s stunned into stuttering idiocy. “Y-you’re–I didn’t know–I–” He bites the inside of his cheek, face burning with embarrassment. He’d thought it was just a random Glaive. Of course, they were all celebrities in his eyes, but Nyx was practically second to King Regis.

“I’m so sorry, I didn’t know it was you, I didn’t mean to just–Six, I’m an idiot.”

His eyebrows raise in amusement at the reaction he gets when Prompto realizes who he’s jumped on. Nyx is certainly used to being in the spotlight, he does that to himself. The title ‘Hero of the Glaives’ tends to put him in the spotlight a lot. The flustered behavior from Prompto does surprise him though, and he can’t help but poke fun at the kid.

“I’m going around trying to cheer up anyone that looks grumpy.” Prompto grins slightly, before letting himself slip from Nyx’s back, taking a few steps back.

“Kingsglaive soldiers always look kinda grumpy, so…” He shrugs slightly. “Did it work?”

He rolls his eyes as Prompto removes himself. Once the kid is on the ground he turns to look at him, amused at the very least.

It’s a calm evening, stars beginning to twinkle in the sky above them. The waters in the city are smooth, even as far out from the city as they can see it stays smooth. Nyx just assumes that’s how Altissia always is. Calm and smooth, gentle and refined. Far cleaner and crisper than the hustle and bustle of Insomnia, or the more down to earth energy of Galahd.

Very seldom do people get the drop on Nyx, but he certainly didn’t expect the Prince’s best friend to jump on his back, and now he has a blonde boy hanging on his back.

He bit his lip. He was a little scared to ask the question because he didn’t know how Nyx was going to react. “Do you like protecting me and my dad?” he asked. “I want to know is all. Im really greatful to have you since you are like a brother to me…”

The concept of does he enjoy his job is... an interesting question. It’s not a fun job to be frank. It’s long hours, hard work, or exceedingly boring work. But it feels worthwhile, and that makes it worth it- even when he gets stuck on gate duty because Drautos was being a hardass, or he snarked back to Luche and went a step too far. 

He’s a little surprised by the last comment though. Certainly he understood his relationship with the Prince wasn’t that of a typical guard, but he didn’t realize just how much impact he had on the young man. It makes his answer a bit harder, as he doesn’t want to let him down. His words are steady, showing no hesitation. But they are carefully chosen, and perhaps they bend the truth a bit. Because he certainly has somewhere else he wants to be, but he can’t do any good back home.

   As he cooks he couldn’t help but smile at the fact that Nyx watched what he was doing. Being entertained by him. It was rewarding to him, to feel the love of his lover, and almost being followed by him everywhere he goes. Prompto felt special, something he’s been searching for. Especially for the years he hasn’t had anyone. 

   “Alright. Just don’t get into any trouble. I’ll be watching you dorks.” Prompto tried to make fun of it because he could feel fear trickle in his stomach. He knew when they came over, Nyx would get into some type of trouble. Either murdering or stealing. But hopefully they wouldn’t tonight?

                   “I don’t want to be cleaning bodies and guts tonight So be careful.”

Nyx can hear the fear in his voice all too clearly. He knows how much it stresses him out, being a cop and dating a killer. It’s something he chose though, and every moment of every day Prompto is choosing Nyx. A fact that Nyx will never have the words to express how grateful he is.

Well this was going to be…fun. Everyone always treated him the same. Aside from Prompto, Ignis, and Gladio. And even then it depended on who was around. On top of that; his dad, Clarus, and Cor always threw him curve balls. Sometimes they treated him as Noct and sometimes as the Prince.

Glancing over every so often, Noctis kept on walking towards his apartment complex. After a few minutes, he could see it. Once there, he shook off once in the lobby. Waiting on Nyx, the Prince tapped the button for the elevator.

The walk is a quiet one, the prince not speaking to him. It feels to Nyx like he’s done some disrespect to Noctis, which is ironic given his aim was to be respectful.
