Formal writing in general is more likely to be false-flagged and technical/engineering-related writing in particular gets incorrectly flagged as AI A LOT because there’s so much repetitive language and highly specific tech vocabulary everyone from here to Silicone Valley uses. Remember the student project the last graduating class did where they assessed a LLM system designed to answer airline pilots’ questions about emergency landings and it was wrong like 37% of the time? Remember how much it sucked*? All LLMs are like that.”

Old guy instructor who’s correctly bitter about the whole AI thing**: “Just make it an honor system like all other cheating.”

*It was supposed to be voice activated “Hey, Alexa”-style and couldn’t reliably recognize its own name a quarter of the time. In one practice scenario it told a pretend pilot to land his pretend airliner at an airport where the runway was too short for it. In another it made up fake emergency procedures that don’t actually exist (ex: “that warning tone is for [system that doesn’t exist on a 737], you should use emergency checklist number [fake checklist number that doesn’t exist].”). A European airline company initially interested in helping develop it had already backed out before the graduate student testing program even began because, again, it sucks.

I am lucky in that I teach 6th graders who know how to use AI, but not how to edit it so it sounds like something they could write. But yeah, it's bad.

I’m 56 and fat. (Look at me putting my therapist’s advice to work; fat is a value- neutral word!), so my upper arms are flabby. I’m starting gentle weight workouts to build my strength, but those won’t work miracles in a month.

Please help me quiet the Body Image Demons. If you have photos of fabulous fat people wearing fabulous things, that would be extra great.

This is Chubblebath, you may have seen her modelling goth clothes in various places. She's been a plus size goth fashion model for a while and has a tiktok at least, maybe a youtube? She's always talking against fatphobia and making fun videos and wearing FABULOUS clothes. I get so excited when I see her while I'm shopping.

Any kind of subculture fashion is so much harder to find when you're fat, I get it; but that doesn't mean there is anything wrong with YOU or me! I am a seventh of a ton myself, and I did that on purpose because I was thin as a young person and got very sick and almost DIED because had no fat for my body to use in times of famine (i.e. being too sick to eat). Recently I got very sick again with The Plague for the first time; but this time, I recovered much faster because I am FAT and my body had something in the pantry to live on while I was stuck in bed coughing and sleeping and unable to swallow anything but water.

Humans as a species spent a long while getting very good at carrying extra stores of fat around to survive through famine! We still have times of famine, it's called getting sick and being in bed, or getting surgery and being in bed, etc. But we're one of the few species that is actually evolved to carry fat safely on our bodies, and we're good at storing food for later--in our fat! There's a reason it's so "easy" to get fat and that's because yeah, it's easy for a bear to get fat too, or a seal! Fat is warm and good at keeping you alive and frankly, it is better for your long-term survival to be fat. Fat being on your arms is a good place to carry it, we evolved to carry it on our limbs specifically because that is the most out of the way spot on our bodies that doesn't interfere with doing stuff.

Fat, happy and cute as hell.
