I hope they remake Tree of Tranquility instead of just Animal Parade because ToT was more fun for me and I preferred the towns layout more.

i have a horrible theory#the goal of the remake is to get people on the mainland to vacation to hawai'i and visit disney's resort there#therefore the movie needed to end on a message that visiting hawai'i is a positive thing#which meant that it needed a “happy ending” involved traveling regularly to hawai'i#almost all the plot changes ripple from that end goal

On a school trip, I decided to tell one of my students about HM: DS (I was playing it on board of the bus; he seemed interested). All was good and well. However, when I heard myself explaining the whole 'yeah the mad scientist has a mermaid in the basement don't worry about it' and 'oh yes there's indeed an evil witch casually living right next to a big mansion and indirecting encouraging me to kill off my farm animals lol so silly' and 'no no it's perfectly normal for the mayor to return my dog ball every day even though I never even bought it in the first place it's like his hobby', I finally started to realize just how completely, shamelessly unhinged the game actually is. By the time I stopped yapping, I swear could see that kids last bits of respect for me evaporating in thin air. Worth it, though.

I might be the only person I know that has headcanoned Mayor Thomas from Harvest Moon 64 to sound like the Mayor of Townsville from “Powerpuff Girls”. I think Tom Kenny would knock that voice out of the park if he voiced the mayor.

well anyway. my discovery of the day is the art of Jeffrey Catherine Jones! she was a trans woman who painted a huge amount of fantasy & scifi cover art for books and magazines, among other things :)
