Shoelace dipping silicone is a specialized addition-cure liquid silicone designed for rope-end treatment, primarily used to enhance the adhesive strength, heat resistance, and durability of rope ends. It’s environmentally friendly,non-toxic,high temperature resistant,strong bonding and easy to operate. In comparison of metal or plastic rope heads we mostly adopted before, the rope dipping silicone is more welcome and widely applied in the current market now. How to use? Mixing ratio:Shaped-edged high density shoelace dipping silicone FY-2030D and mid dry curing agent FY-002 are mixed in a weight ratio of 10:1. Silicone diluent FY-1# can be added to adjust fluidity. Defoaming treatment: The mixed adhesive needs to undergo vacuum defoaming to prevent bubbles from affecting the quality of the adhesive layer. Dipping process: Dipping the ropes to the prepared shoelace dipping silicone,Can be dipped multiple times to achieve the desired thickness, then hung to dry naturally. Curing conditions: Avoid contact with condensation-type silicone rubber curing agents, amines, sulfur/phosphorus compounds, etc., so as not to affect the curing effect. Usually we have simple manual rope dipping or machine dipping ropes via rope dipping machines as follows：

In what fields is it applied? Shoe and hat straps: used for shoe laces, clothing straps, etc., to enhance wear resistance and aesthetics

What common problems to be met and how to resolve? Odor problem: Some silicone may have a slight odor, which can be reduced by boiling or baking at high temperatures to promote the volatilization of volatile substances. Abnormal curing: Avoid contact with certain chemicals, otherwise it may not cure

How to store? This shoelace dipping silicone should be stored in a dry, ventilated and cool place. The shelf life is generally 12 months.

Print 5-6 layers clear silicone for high density HD silicone FY-1320-1 100G Slow dry catalyst FY-003 10G 10% Thinner FY-1# 10G 10%

Print 5-6 layers colors with silicone pigment HD silicone FY-1320-1 100G Slow dry catalyst FY-003 10G 10% Thinner FY-1# 10G 10% White pigment 20G 20%

Print 1 layer matte with matte silicone Matte silicone FY-1000M 100G Slow dry catalyst FY-003 10G 10%

There are 2 solutions of silicone heat transfer, one is what we called reverse silicone transfer, which is to print silicone ink firstly and another is forward silicone transfer, which is to print hot melt glue firstly. Silicone ink PET films:

Two types : one is glossy coating film which will be glossy after heating press on fabric ,another one is matte finish effect after heating press on fabric.

Mesh number: 120-200, Mesh(screen film )thickness 0.1-0.2MM,it is depends on printing Artworks.

Squeegee：65-80 degree .

Printing tips:

For transfer silicone printing we have two types of transfer silicone

one is FY-1333, catalyst FY-003 mixing ratio 10% flash by temp 100-120 degree

another one is FY-311, catalyst FY-600mixing ratio 3% flash by temp 100-120 degree

Solutions of silicone heat transfer printing:

A: Reverse silicone transfer, which is to print silicone ink firstly

Reverse silicone transfer printing way can only print flat patterns, but it’s easy to operate. The matte or glossy pattern is depends on if we print on matte or glossy PET film

Reverse silicone transfer printing process:

Silicone color layer printing for 3-6 layers

Silicone transparent layer printing 2-16 layers or more for high density

Crossing linker printing 2 layers for fastness

Hot melt glue printing 8-12 layers for adhesion

After finish, put into the oven to bake by 100-120 degree for 30 to 60 minutes

Heat press the film on the fabric via the heat transfer press machine under pressure of 4KG by the temp of 160-170 degree for front side 7 seconds then back side 12-18 seconds

Please note: heat pressing way is different with forward silicone transfer printing, put the printed label on the heat pressing machine and press, then after it gets cold, cold peeling off the PET film. Because the last step is to print the hot melt glue, and after heating, the hot melt glue will melt and paste on the fabric.

B: Forward silicone transfer, which is to print hot melt glue firstly

Forward silicone transfer printing way presents high density effect,has a three-dimensional feel, a sense of layering, and a textured feel but it’s relatively complicated in printing compared to reverse silicone transfer printing. The matte or glossy pattern is depends on if we print matte or glossy silicone on the top layer at last.

Forward silicone transfer printing process:

Hot melt glue printing 8-12 layers for adhesion

Crossing linker printing 2 layers for fastness

Silicone transparent layer printing 2-16 layers or more for high density

Silicone color layer printing for 3-6 layers

Glossy or matte silicone ink for top coating printing

After finish, put into the oven to bake by 100-120 degree for 30 to 60 minutes

Heat press the film on the fabric via the heat transfer press machine under pressure of 4KG by the temp of 160-170 degree for front side 7 seconds then back side 12-18 seconds
