Simon eyed his desk distrustfully. It was just a simple piece of paper, folded over once, but it had not been there before and, therefore, he was wary. He flicked the paper open with the end of his finger, trying to make as little contact as possible.
That’s it. That’s all it said. How completely and totally odd. He stared at the paper a moment longer.
You know, it’s rude not to reply.
The paper had definitely not said that a moment ago.
You’re a smart boy, figure it out.
The paper was taunting him. He took out his wand and tapped the paper.
Very good. What did that tell you?
SImon looked around the room, finally noticing Baz lazily reading a book on his bed.
“Baz, did you see who put this paper here?”
Baz looked up lazily. “No,” was all he said before returning to his book.
“Baz, I think it might be dangerous.”
Sighing, Baz looked up again. “Why would you think that?”
“I don’t know where it came from, it’s charmed, and it’s like it can see what I’m doing.”
“Well what does it want?”
“RIght now it seems to want me to say hello.”
“But what if it’s a trap of some sort?”
“Then you’re trapped. But, if it can see you, then it can see me as well. It’s unlikely the trap would be sprung until you are alone. Might as well say hello. Might learn a bit more about what’s happening then.”
Simon looked at the paper again, contemplating Baz’s words.
“I suppose you’re right. If something does happen, you’ll still be here.”
Simon picked up his pen and sat down.
Tut, tut! Too soon for that. Besides, you didn’t even ask politely.
Well, then what do you want?
Did you know that your mouth quirks up in the most adorable way when you are peeved?
Simon paused, unsure how to respond.
Also, it is most becoming when you blush.
Simon turned even redder.
So you’re just a secret admirer?
That’s one way to put it.
Why secret? Why not just tell me?
You seem very drawn to danger and puzzles. This makes me both.
Simon tapped his pen on his lips, contemplating.
I think this is enough fun for now. Have fun guessing who I am.
Wait! You haven’t given me any clues.
The paper did not respond.
Baz smiled to himself as he put his pen way.
