Since I had started taking drawing seriously (around 2019-2020 I would say?) I always wanted to create some sort of sona, a character to represent myself with. The problem was that no matter how many times I tried, the designs I came up with never really resonated with me or were straight up bad.

I remember somewhere around 2021 I made a design of a supposed sona which was so abysmal that I had apparently deleted it from everywhere, since I cannot find any of the drawings of this design. A shame, really. I would have loved to showcase it here just so that everyone could see how bizarre and terrible it was lol.

Skipping to 2024, either summer or early autumn, I decided that It would actually be cool to have a fursona instead, cause I respect furries and anthropomorphic animal design are really fun. I decided right then to make her a sloth, which is my favorite animal and I think it somewhat fits me. So I drew this very first design concept of what would become Ruth:

Not... perfect. But at least it was a good starting point. The following versions of the design didn't change that much in essence, rather I became better at shape language and overall character design (and colours... I used to draw everything in super desaturated colours back then and it really pisses me off when I look at it right now lol).
