The Universe Says Hello

it’s always weird being the littler artist. I think most of my listeners probably know that Elio and I are friends, and that I opened for him on the Side Quest Tour. but most of his listeners don’t know who I am at this point.

it’s weird to be told “your friend’s art is better than yours.”

like… weird weird weird. what a weird world, where people don’t think twice about saying such things to strangers. I get this exact comment all the time, and it never stops being weird to me.

the world of whimsical music is vanishingly small, despite what your algorithm may lead you to believe. and it’s precious, and I think every part of it is worth nourishing.

incidentally, it’s probably a good idea to not cultivate too much hate toward any one of us. your fave won’t succeed alone—it’s an ecosystem and it needs more than one artist to thrive. over the years many of us will tour together or collaborate, so there’s no certainty of escape.
