He held the two bags between his fingers, non moving and patient. It felt almost like feeding a stray, something he couldnât say that he often did, but here he was, snacks in hand with a burger tucked in his bag in case he really needed to bribe her and gain her trust. The first bag was snatched faster than he blinked; Lux dropped the bag of candy next to his backpack again and returned to gently caressing Butters while the other opened the jerky with delight. Perhaps this was the end of their correspondence for the night butâ surprisingly, the girl took occupancy on the swing next to him and began to devour the food like she hasnât eaten anything other than expired supermarket food for ages. Lux returned her thanks with a soft nod and leaned his head against the chain, keeping quiet and simply watching the faux fur that covered her slip slightly while she grazed on the poor turkey jerky that never stood a chance. What came out of pocket did surprise him though. Lux had to lean in slightly to squint against the moonlight, but after a few seconds of inspection he identified the page as possibly from US Weeklyâ no, definitely from US Weekly given the blurb about how famished and tired he looked. God, what theyâd do to paint a cruel picture. Lux gave the blonde a curt nod, though his expression soured at the memory of where the photo was taken. âThey love making me look as ugly as possible,â he commented with a small shrug, gently smoothing his thumbs over Buttersâ ears and causing the cat to inch closer for more, âI was still in LA back then so it mustâve been a month or two old. Is that how you recognize me? From the picture? Iâve seen you around and stuff, you donât really talk and if I get close you get really spooked. Iâm not scary, I donât think. Not unless youâre annoying.â Lux paused. âWhich youâre not.â He reached into his bag again and pulled out the burger and extending it out towards her. âYou got a name?â

She waited patiently, chewing a little slower on her food as she got sure to catch any kind of microexpression on the boyâs face regarding his picture. There wasnât a but of happiness on his features as he seemed to study the picture and Alecto kept her eyes bright and green as if waiting for a huge revelation. She didnât understand much the reason behind his reaction, but again, she didnât really know him ( or anybody else aside of her mother for that matter ).
His sudden chain of words made her focus on her jerky again until it was done and she cleaned put the magazine page back into her pocket. Alecto had vague memories from her time in LA, but some of them including flashing signs and tv commercials that included the blond boy starring on them. His face was a constant throughout her years in that big city and even when she was dragged into confinement, she had managed to snatch this cutout from a magazine in the doctorâs office mostly because she NEEDEDÂ something... ANYTHINGÂ that could make her brain remember LA no matter how blurry the times seemed in the facility and Luxâs appearance was striking enough to tie her dying memories to a past life in which she thrived (Â in some way )Â with her mother.
A little smile managed to show up when he reassured her on not being annoying, thank the gods, one of the few compliments she had gotten from strangers throughout the years. She looked away sheepishly, knowing she hadnât been too discreet around the male and that she was prone to run away upon eye contact, but tonight... tonight she had promised herself she would be BRAVE. âI am from LA as wellâ, she muttered, her voice gathering a little more clarity, ây--- your face was everywhere back thenâ, Alecto remembered. Finding him in Roswell was a rollercoaster of emotions, like an odd game from destiny to knock at her memories and maybe Lux represented some kind of literal light of hope for her. The girl received the hamburger in a less aggressive way than the first bag and the smell of having something fresh in her hands cause her irises to briefly glow with a red shine, just for a couple of seconds as she took the first bite. âAlectoâ, she introduced herself before taking another bite and then she made a pause as if a memory had hit again. âAre they chasing you too? Is that why you left LA?â
