The issue is manifold:
There is a large secondary industry that has emerged around D&D that produces content out of and for D&D. This includes third party rules and adventures as well as transformative content like actual plays as well as gaming video essayists and so on.
The most visible parts of this industry are the actual plays.
There is a clear financial incentive in using D&D for actual plays, because actual plays using other systems do not draw the same crowds as actual plays using D&D. There is no nefarious intent at play here, it's simply financial realities at play.
However, these people may wish to obfuscate those financial incentives and present them having arrived at D&D as coincidental. Since a lot of actual play content eventually wants to branch out from dungeon-killing fantasy monsters, this creates tension with the game mechanics.
What this creates is a lot of talk about how the fact that D&D chafes against this type of play is either a non-issue that can be fixed by the GM or actually inherent to the very medium of TTRPGs as well.
A lot of people are coming into TTRPGs with an a priori understanding of the medium like "it's okay that TTRPGs (D&D) can't handle all types of situations, the real power of TTRPGs (D&D) is that they can be modified by the GM on the fly."
This creates tension between these people and the people who actually think tabletop RPGs are worth engaging with as texts taken at their own word as well as the people who have a vested interest in their tabletop RPGs being treated as things worth engaging with on their own terms and not just as lesser versions of D&D.
Again, there is no nefarious intent at play here on any side, but it's simply in my personal interests to engage with RPGs as texts. Because the aforementioned cycle feeds and repeats itself and it doesn't actually result in a lot of interesting and good and cool new design. it just leads to more D&D with different numbers.
Giving workers back the value they produce wouldn't be enough. The means of production must be seized by the workers and controlled collectively by them. The worker can only be liberated when the bourgeois no longer exist to take the value they produce in the first place.
yep, pretty much

THIS RIGHT HERE
You guys are dangerously close to realizing specifically what kinds of people they keep from voting and why.
I want to drill this into everybody’s head:
The United States of America has the highest prison population in the world
Black Americans and Latin people make up the majority of this population (many of whom are non-violent offenders)
Federal Prisons in America require that their state keeps their prisons at a maximum occupancy at all times.
The 13th amendment did not entirely abolish slavery…just one form of it. It remains legal through industrial prison system
Oh and we have privatized prisons which allow companies to actually make money off of keeping people incarcerated
Here’s what’s really perverse: prisoners, who cannot vote, still get counted in the U.S. Census. The more prisoners a county has, the more representation it gets, even though the prisoners cannot vote. See how that works? The more black and brown people they lock up, the more government resources and political representation they get. Even though those prisoners have no say and cannot vote.
If county-A has a population of 50 voters but no prisons, and county-B has a population of 50 voters and 50 prisoners, the county with the prisoners gets more government funding and more political represention. This is sometimes called “prison gerrymandering” and it is used in redistrictring.
Not so fun Fact: Southern states that reliably vote for Republicans also have the highest prison population in the United States. (source). So mass incarceration is a double whammy. It’s both a form of voter suppression and a tool to strengthen white people’s political power.

Survival-themed cyberpunk RPG where instead of weapons having durability, you need to purchase subscriptions for each of your weapons, which deplete based on how much damage you inflict. Hit points exist in-universe as a value calculated by your weapons' built-in biometric scanners to meter subscription usage. You can top up a weapon's subscription credits at conveniently located kiosks, or "bank" extra credits beyond a given weapon's rated capacity by carrying gift cards.
If you hurt someone by hitting them with a rock or some other non-networked object, this is a serious felony – not because of the violence, but because due to a series of obscure legal precedents, using an object with no associated weapon subscription to cause measurable harm counts as circumventing copy protection.
What about beating someone to death with a firearm? Is that considered jailbreaking?
Assuming the gun has a linked weapon subscription, it just deducts from your credits in the usual fashion. Remember, you're being charged per hit point of damage inflicted, not per shot fired; the biometric monitors don't care how you inflicted them, as long as it was done using a weapon with an up-to-date subscription.
(Of course, the trick is, if you're firing the gun, it can helpfully prevent you from going over your credit limit by refusing to chamber the next round. If you're just pistol-whipping people senseless, you need to keep an eye on the readout manually!)
"Oh yeah, we already invented materials that are practically invulnerable to all forms of damage. The companies started charging subscriptions on every piece of nanoweave-based clothing, armory and weaponry to keep up the scarcity. Could you imagine how much money you would cost a company if you allowed rampant piracy? No one would die!"

THE OMNIGARCHS: HOJO DARYA
Shogun-Emperor of Mars and CEO of Tharsco, Hojo Darya took the throne when her uncle, Koprowski Masayoshi, was killed during a supposed attempt on his niece's life. The story goes that he died protecting her, though the exact details of this noble sacrifice have never been made clear. There is a prominent theory, of course, that Hojo Darya herself directed a secret coup against her uncle's administration and took the throne by force, and that the "sacrifice" story is a total fabrication. Even uttering such a theory in the wrong company has been rumored to make people disappear.

THE OMNIGARCHS: DALLAS HEXT
Hext is very detached from both his corporation, Vesser Arcologies, and his role as the ruler of Venus. His only major contribution to the company (and the planet) in decades was his Arc project, though the actual work of design and planning fell as usual to his COO, Anderburg Xue. How Dallas Hext spends his time is largely a mystery, but gossip states that directing movies under an alias is his true passion, though as to which director he supposedly secretly is, nobody can quite agree.
THE OMNIGARCHS: ORREL STAAS
President of Ganymede and CEO of CompCorp, Orrel Staas is a devotee of simplicity in all things. His company's technology is minimalistic, its buildings brutalist and by several accounts the man himself lives in a bare concrete palace with only essential furniture. Perhaps that's why CompCorp's capital is a factory. Staas is an enigma amid the Omnigarchs, but equally despotic. In his view, people are machines to be exploited, just like everything else.

TTRPG Inspirations Database/Wiki
For the past week or so, I (and a few other members of Chimera Hearts) have been working to make a community-editable database for TTRPGs, with a focus on inspirations for games, to allow players to find games that are linked to ones they enjoy.
We landed on a wiki, and have been ironing out formatting and organisation, with only a handful of games added so far.
Now we're mostly happy with the setup, we'd like the wider community to get involved. Please, add your game, or any you have copies of!
What with tumblr doing tumblr things today, it seems it's time for me to share the TTRPG Tumblr starter pack for Bluesky I made a while back:
Join the conversation
If you're posting ttrpg stuff here and/or there and want to be added, let me know!

THE OMNIGARCHS: YURIY KULAKOV
Kulakov is as much a regime as it is a corporation and its CEO, Yuriy Valentinovich Kulakov, is its supreme leader. He appears on posters and banners appealing to the worker, gives speeches about the great golden days when mankind was united by labor and performs just about every possible tactic to ensure that his subjects remain loyal to him. It is a thin facsimile of fellowship, but it is nonetheless effective. His popularity is higher than ever despite his continued funneling of public resources into his war on the Sons of New Agenor.
THE OMNIGARCHS: SUSANNAH ROOK
The CEO of Juno-Cyto and Queen of Callisto, Susannah Rook inherited her mother's pharmaceutical empire at the age of 14. It is ironic that her chief interest now lies in anti-aging technology. After her company experienced a time of financial trouble following the Callisto Terraforming Disaster, Rook has pivoted its focus towards food production and health-based cyberware, which has seen the megacorp crawl back from the brink of annihilation and reclaim much of its former glory.
