Presenting Custom Funko Pop of Bucky Barnes, current head of The New Avengerz!

Happy Birthday Bucky, born March 19, 1917. Still quite the looker!

The body was a Starship Trooper. I removed some of the harness hardware, added the belt, and repainted in many shades and finishes of black. I used electric tape to make his gauntlet and torso armour. The red star on the arm was difficult, but it was more electric tape and an exacto knife. The head was Barry Allen, with the holes filled with acrylic paint.

"...Bucky?"

"Who the hell is Bucky?"

Presenting the custom Funko Pops of The Winter Soldier, and Steve Rogers, from the most epic hand-to-hand fight in all of Marvel.

Of course there was a Winter Soldier Funko officially released, several of them, actually. But I don't like the crouchy legs, and by the time I got into wanting Steve and Bucky funko's, they were well out of production and expensive. So I made my own.

The Winter Soldiers' body comes from a Stormship Trooper body, and Rumpelstiltskins' head. I modified the gear on the body slightly, painted in numerous different shades of black, and used a bag of confetti to get the perfect star for his shoulder. The sunglasses are actually taken off of a Sam Wilson funko, and painted black. I used some craft foam and paint to make the mask.

Steve's body is made from a Rebel Moon figure, and his head comes from a Galaxy quest character. I took his shield off of a Cap Wolf funko. I figure werewolves are badass enough, he doesn't need a shield.

Presenting custom Funko Pop of former Viking raider, Nicamund the Red, currently known as Santa Claus. This custom is from the ultimate Christmas movie, Violent Night. He weilds his trusty war hammer, Skull Crusher...or at least it's handy replacement. He has sewn up a wound and covered it with wrapping paper and ribbon.

This Funko began life as Bro Thor. I sanded off the lines on the pants, removed the pizza in the hand, then cut off and reattached the hand at a different angle. I did my best to hand draw the Celtic knot tattoos. He got a repaint, the hat is from a hair clip, and Skull Crusher is modeling clay and a Q-tip stick.

I had been planning this one on and off for 2 years. Took me a while to pull the trigger on buying Thor, as he's not cheap anymore, but this was too tempting to do. I can't believe Funko has been sleeping on this character.

Presenting, custom Funko's of escaped Hydra prisoner Sargent Bucky Barnes, and escaped Hydra prisoner Capwolf!

I really wish I had thought of posting this for Halloween, but... Halloween. I was busy. 🎃

I did an earlier post about the custom Bucky, but the custom Capwolf is just a little bit of a repaint, and I removed his shield to turn it into more of a manacle that he's torn apart in his escape.

In my head there's a fanfic about Bucky setting off on his own to find and protect Capwolf when the rest of the army wants to put him down. Bucky and the Howling Commandos get trapped in a gas chamber by Hydra, and Capwolf saves them by biting each of them, turning them into the Howling Commandos for real. They eat a lot of nazis.

Then along comes the Ancient One/Sorcerer Supreme, and enchants all their dog tags so that as long as they're wearing them they will not change or remember that they are werewolves.

When Hydra recaptures Bucky and turns him into the Winter Soldier, they melt down his dog tags and make it part of his metal arm, because having invented the werewolf serum that they injected into Steve, they knew all about that situation.

The problem resurfaces when he's in Wakanda after the arm is removed. Hence the name, "White Wolf."

Of course, there is an extremely Stucky version of the story. Wolves mate for life.

Sadly, I'm not a writer. So this is as close as you're going to get to reading this unless somebody else wants to write it.

"This wouldn't be payback would it?"

"Now why would I do that?"

Funkos used pictured below. Bucky got a full paint job and a bit of ribbon for his belt and harness. Also a new hand.

Steve is very much original except that I put a different head on him because I don't like the helmet. I use the head from the same body I used for Bucky. A character from Wicked.

A little tip for you: to remove the beard paint just use a cotton makeup pad and some gel nail polish remover.

"Let's hear it for Captain America!"

Once again I have no idea where the head came from, but I used the body from Galaxy Quest. I pulled the gun off and shaved it down to match the one in the movie. I also used an exacto knife to change the medallion into dog tags. Aside from that, it was just a paint job. This was an easy one.

"How about you? You ready to follow Captain America into the jaws of death?"

I have no idea where I got the head for this, but the body was Thaddeus Ross from Captain America: Brave New World.

I did a lot of work on the body. I added lapels to the jacket, sanded down the the bottom of the jacket so that it sat at the waist rather than the hips, and made the pockets out of those sticky pads that come with fake nails. I also removed and adjusted the arm to be pointed down instead of pointed out.

The shield I made by pressing modeling clay into the bottom of one of those Spirit Halloween shot glasses. It was the perfect size. Then I pressed the shield from one of my purchased Captain America's into it to get the ring impressions, and then rested it over the shield to dry so that it was the right concave shape.

Again, painting army colors is an absolute nightmare. I don't know how many variations I went through to get to these shades.

And so it began. I had no idea how much I would fall in love with this character.

I normally post what Funkos I used to make a custom funko, so that anyone who wanted to replicate it, could. But I literally have no idea. I had the body and the head lying around for years. The body was just somebody in a suit. Possibly a James Bond character??

I painted a piece of ribbon to make the belt, and gave the full body and hat a new paint job. BTW, trying to determine military olive colors is a nightmare. They look different in every single picture.

I used a mini grommet to make the detail on the hat, and gave him his newspaper about going to the future. Oh boy, did they ever go to the future.

Cut to Christmas of 2024, and I'm re-watching movies, and suddenly I'm obsessed. I want funkos of my two boys. But most of them are long out of production, too expensive, or simply never existed the way I want them.

So I made my own. A lot of them. I'm going to start posting them soon.

I really thought I was kind of done with this hobby. Feels good to be back making them again.

At first I didn't make Agent Park because I didn't expect her to last. I wasn't terribly fond of her, although I didn't hate her either. I just thought they needed to do a lot more development for her. A violent temper is not enough to define a character. When she did look like she was going to last, I finally got around to starting her funko, and they announced that she was leaving. So I didn't bother finishing it.
