ooc. I am in search for an active Tim Laughlin from Fellow Travelers. If you are interested please let me know.
It is later in the evening when Hawk planned to see @devotedsenior .
He was only a few steps away from his flat door.
When he reached it, he gave it a soft knock.
Tim was listening to the Rockettes that night and when he heard the drumbeat he put down the wooden spoon he was stirring his soup with.
As he opened the door, he smiled, making room for Hawk to enter.
ā Hawk, come in. ā
For the older man, it was not a usual thing to appear like this one in someoneās place. When Tim opened the door and the scent of soup was reaching his nose, he smiled. āMaking some dinner for yourself? I hope I donāt disturb you in your evening routine.ā He hadnāt informed the other at all and now standing in his flat Hawk tried to make the best of it.
He put his hat and his jacket over a chair and sat down on it, watching the boy making his soup while the Rockettes played a song in the background.
ā I didn't know you were coming, Mr. Fuller ā
Tim was sorry he hadn't made soup for two, but he could divide the portions. As he let Hawk pass, he felt sorry for the situation. Tim always was; it wasn't the place Hawk was used to living.
ā Would you like something to drink? ā
He was just sitting there, but when Tim was going back to his soup he stood up, joining him. There was the pull, and Fuller had felt this pull from the moment he had seen him on the political event. The young man who had ordered the milk, pulling Fuller into the moment where he couldnāt escape. He had always an eye for a young man like Tim, but here something else was happening, and he got out of the habit and didnāt want to pull this one into one of his dirty hotels. So something was shifting for him.
āIs okay, Mr. Laughlin. Or should I call you Skippy? I call you Skippy.ā He was standing next to him smiling at the fact he was making this easy soup, āDonāt worry, I am not here to eat your soup away. I wanted to be here because i wasnāt getting you out of my mind any more.ā He smiled and gave him a small nod, āWhat do you have for me?ā
Tim didn't know Hawk completely and couldn't understand how Hawk seemed not to care that they were just two strangers, perhaps from different positions.
ā Skippy ? ā
Still, the young man nervously moved the wooden spoon around, trying to control his nerves. He didn't want to give himself away by looking at Hawk.
ā I don't know what you want from me, Mr. Fuller. ā
Maybe he didnāt understand now, but he would soon. Hawk had his own way of approaching things, and he didnāt pull away if he had found someone interesting.Ā
A small smile was on his lips and he nodded, āYeah Skippy. You like a Skippy for me.ā
He settled for that and made sure that he would feel it for what was his true intension. He leaned some closer, oh the boy had his scent. The soup mixed with his washing soup. He liked his scent. On his body language, he noticed that he was nervous. Which made him decide to test the waters with him a little more.Ā
āWould you like if I kissed you?ā It was one shot forward or nothing.
Tim looked nervous. Not knowing Fuller well, he seemed to want to run away to avoid being led into sin. That was the first thing that came to mind: being with a man again was a sin.
ā No. Mr Fuller. ā
He glanced suspiciously at his opponent, trying to focus his attention solely on the soup so as not to give in.
ā It is a sin ā
The moment he heard, āIt is a sin.ā He didnāt react first, but something was working in him. He remembered very well what it meant to live a sin. Not only that, but he did live it every day. The voice inside his head telling him all of this and realizing he could never escape from it. He had his way of embracing it. He let his eyes on the boy, and he watched how Tim clung to the soup like it might save him.Ā
āNo. That's what they taught you.ā He gestured but not touching him, āThis is just wanting, and wanting isnāt wicked. Itās human, Skippy.ā He rested his back on the wall and let the moment happen as it was.Ā
āIf itās a sin. Then we both walked into it the moment we looked at each other.ā

It was one of these afternoons where Fuller wanted to spent the lunch far away from his office. He went out of the office and knew he had around one hour to clear his head. The paperwork was piling up and starting to crowd his brain. He left notes for the secretary then he exited the office. The sun was shining down upon him with a warm feelingāto it, maybe a little too warm, but it did not really bother him.
He walked while looking for a placeāto eat his lunch he noticed a bench close to the cemetery and a young man which was already sitting there. He titled his head, though he felt unsure if the young man would notice him now.
So he went and stood then close to him but with a respectful distance. He cleared his throat.
"Do you sit here for lunches often? May I?" He pointed beside him. @devotedsenior

Just finished the episode. I donāt think I will make gifs from later episodes since there are already plenty of good ones around here. Was kinda painful to rewatch.
I'm sorry. That you are dying. That not a single fucking soul gives a shit. And that you didn't knock first.
-ep 2, hawkins's apology to his father
FELLOW TRAVELERS (2023) Episode 3 ⢠"Hit Me"
You'll love this drink. Is this my birthday present? It's more like an education. Educate me.
The Apology | part one | 18/01/26 | Fellow Travelers AU | 1952
When Hawk received a call from his mother this afternoon, he felt a disturbing sensation overcome him. She told him repeatedly that he needed to come home. His dad felt unwell, wanting one final favor from his only child. That last thing was as an apology for what the son had done in that past. Hawk's nature was not any family secret, but they stayed being silent; his father hated him, and his mother tried quite her best in the circumstances.
One day, she asked for him to find a woman. He tried in order to give her grandchildren. However, she showed to him just how someone lives a life that is filled with lies, and there was no option for escape from within this system other than just to play along.
For a minute after he had the call he stared at his phone until someone knocked on it. He said, āPlease come in.ā His secretary noticed Mr. Fuller wasn't in good shape after the call yet needed signatures.
After glancing at few files, Hawk waved her in. āPlease make sure that I do not have meetings because I have to leave for family matters now. My return probably will not be today.ā
Fuller signed each of the papers after Miss Addison nodded respectfully then waited patiently. That is no problem for Mr. Fuller. I will make sure about it.
When the young woman left the office, Hawk prepared to leave. He locked all of his drawers as he always did so then he exited the office. One last time, he nodded at his secretary plus offered a friendly smile. The drive to his old home was unpleasant because he knew what awaited him therefore that thought alone made his stomach turn.
This afternoon the streets were jammed since everyone appeared to desire driving to family or another place. To go back to his old home was not a thing that he wished to do at all. It was a must that he keep on the mask, never allowing for his feelings to show. This was a hard challenge because of his family. He was a grown man, though it was easy to revert to his old self. His parents did not accept nor appreciate his efforts for improvement to be a better son. Hawk had taken all of the shame that his father had thrown and had done everything that was possible.
In the end, he did pay a heavy price when he went to war within the army. Hawk wanted this apology from his father because he had paid enough for that. He knew already of the answer which concerned the inheritance that he would receive. He would rather go without all of the money and also everything that came with the money than let his father humiliate him even from his own deathbed.
He knew hurting his mother would happen since she was good and always supported him. His mind would not be changed by him about the choice that he made to decline giving to his father the apology his son demanded. Having grown up, Hawk was no longer the boy he used to be or someone whom his father could push around if he chose to. He stood above him now, prepared if necessary to let his father feel this. This afternoon, Hawk got a call from his mother. He felt uneasy afterward. She did repeatedly tell to him that he needed to come home. His father wanted an apology from his son about his past actions, wanting one last thing in bad condition. What Hawk was stayed no secret inside the family, but they stayed silent; his father loathed him, while his mother did her best to be a good mother to her son, despite the hard conditions.
She asked that in one day he might find a woman. He attempted to give this woman grandkids. She did however show him how to live a life of lies. To act within this system was his only means.
He knew his mother would be hurt for she had always supported him as a good soul. However, his decision stood firm about: he would not give his father the apology. Giving about this was not something he would ever change his mind. Hawk had grown up and was simply no longer someone his father could push around if he chose to since Hawk was no longer the boy he used to be. He stood over him now prepared if necessary to let his father feel this.
