If communism only works if every single critic of it, including the people who lived through it, are nothing more than anti communist properganda, then communism isn’t a good idea.
Lets do a break down of the Soviet Union’s crime shall we?
1) Killed thousand of Civilians during the Russian Civil War, including those advocating for labor reform
2) Massacred htousands of Kulaks
3) Sent millions to the Gulags
4) Killed Millions in Staln’s Purges
5) Destroyed Kazistan’s natural sea
7) Made a deal with Hitler and was stupid enough to be surprised when he invaded
8) Raped millions of Germans and eastern Europeans
9) Was so bad that Tito split off and stayed independent
10) Forcibly moved entire cultures in the Cacus mountains
11) Forbad religion to millions who wanted it
12) Destroyed their economy
13) Cause or oversaw half a dozen massive famines
15) Helped the Nazis invade Poland, Estonia, Finland, Latvia, lithuania and Moldavia.
16) After defeating the Nazis, occupied those aforementioned countries (minus Finland), and also Bulgaria, Romania, East Germany, Hungary, Parts of Austria, Czetchslovakia, Albania, Montenegro, and Mongolia.
17) Crushed the Gerogian, Armenian, and Azerbijian attempts at independence, and culturally damaged all of the central Asian countries
18) Responsible for the deaths of millions in the Ukraine
19) Denied Free elections for its entire history, and had a hilarious amount of corruption.
20) Helped set up and support North Korea
21) Were not able to provide basic necessities for their peoples.
Again, the Soviet Union lost. And not because the US invaded or because of a military coup, but because the moment a Soviet Premier started to relax the oppression, the people stopped wanting t obe Soviet and the entire empire fell apart with very little resistance. If it was so great, why did it fail.
Lecturing Chinese history to a Chinese history historian…yeah good luck there. Ok lets break this down
1) The 60 million famine was larger than the 40 million under Mao….except that one happened A) Over a far longer period of time, you know…23 years B) was in the middle of one of the largest wars in human history. The Great Leap Forward was
2) The Great Leap Forward was a success? By what metric? Industry collapsed, agriculture failed the economy was weakened, internal stability was weakened, people died in mass amounts, Mao himself eventually had to call it in. If the Great Leap Forward was so awesome, why did CCP officials have to make fake villages to show Mao to make it seem so much more awesome than it was? Why was Mao basically thrown out of power for a few years afterwards (He called himself a “dead ancestors-praised but never consulted”) if the policy was so awesome and wonderful? See FDR did this major economic reform policy called the “New Deal” and it not only improved the economy but FDR stayed in power…for 4 terms. And his VP got reelected because people liked it so much. People who oversee policies that are “Universally agreed” upon to be good (and I would be very curious to see which experts are saying this, because even the PRC today sees the Great Leap Forward as a bad thing), don’t get kicked upstairs, and have to rely upon college kids whipped into a frenzy to get themselves back into power.
3) China’s economy didn’t improve after capitalism? ok…..well when Dong did “To Get Rich is Glorious” the economy improved.Hey look here https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/b/b3/Prc1952-2005gdp.gif what is the point where China’s economy starts improving exponentially…oh wait its in the 80s. Not during Mao’s reign.
4) As for why India hasn’t become China its because India is playing a longer game. China isn’t entirely capitalist, its capitalism mixed with state run pseudo socialist, which in the short run can generate a tremendous amount of profit. It also causes a massive amount of instability, and while India has becoming increasingly more stable and more secure in the last few decades, China has not. Also India, unlike China has you know……a giant fucking feud with Pakistan? And was FAR more ravaged by imperialism than China wars (and that is saying a lot)? And unlike China, was never a country before 1947? China has over two thousand years of unity, maintaining a country is not that hard, and they have a common written language/common culture. India…does not. The subcontinent was never unified until British occupation, the peoples are totally different and there is no common language, Hindi and English are only spoken by a slight majority. And while China’s “Time of Troubles” was roughly a century, India’s was 250 years. And as shit Qing/KMT China had it (and it was shit) they were still independent, even during the Japanese invasion the KMT and the CCP had independent holdings, India was utterly dominated by the British Empire. Of fucking course they took longer to advance. And unlike China, they have more internal stability because.
5) In 2013 alone, China had 160,000 protests against the government numbering over 5,000 people. The US is at one of the worse periods in our history and we have no where close to that number. China just had to put down a revolution in Hong Kong. China losses billions of dollars each year to corruption. China is constantly on the edge of an international crisis with Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Vietnam, Thailand, Burma and Indonesia. China’s leadership are currently having a political civil war. You don’t have this level of instability in India, because the government is less (though still quite) repressive. Remember, India doesn’t need a giant fucking firewall to keep their people from looking up what the Tienemen square massacre is. Because countries that are healthy and stable don’t need to keep their people constantly ignorant.
6) As for polls…..first you say China doesn’t adopt Capitalist models and then you say they do and its not popular. Make up your mind. In the case of both Russia and China they are quite unpopular but as I’ve said again and again, opposing something bad doesn’t make you good. If the common people of Russia were so happy with the Soviet Union…the Soviet Union wouldn’t have fallen. And if China of 1976 was so happy with Maoist policies, then they would have supported the Gang of 4 over Deng Xiaoping.
7) So wait, when the vast majority of historians from across the the world, including people who lived through it say that the Ukranian famine killed 10 million people, thats properganda, but when you get one obscure historian with almost no public record who says that 7 ½ million people died in the depression that is fact? Yeah, that isn’t how history works, where are the bodies? Where are the reports of mass numbers. Obviosuly people did starve in the great depression, possible as many as half a million, but if 7.5 million out of 123 million people died, people would notice that. And when you do a bit of research all of the claim of 7 and a half million people dying in the Depression, it all can be traced back to….one guy. With very little record. And that is what we call….a conspiracy theory. Actually life expediency actually increased in the Great Depression because of new TB treatments, though people di obviously die. Malnutrition was the largest problem with the Depression more than actual starvation.
And again, while the US has plenty to answer for and a massive amount of problems…..it didn’t fall during the Great Depression. And however shit things are today, we aren’t at Great Depression levels (and things are shit right now). In fact, we Elected FDR and he got 4 terms. If the US was so much worse than the Soviet Union, then the Soviet Union wouldn’t have fallen.
Now unto India….you know that India was conquered prior to Captalism becoming the dominent model of Britain. Wealth of nations wasn’t written until 1776, and Britain, through the East India Company ruled india from 1612. And even after direct rule in the 1800s, the british never really adopted a fully capitalist model until decades later. The US, which has been purely capitalist from the Civil War onwards, has a great deal to answer for, I mean we have done some pretty sick shit, but we have not had any famines that have equalled the Ukranian famine or the Great Leap Forward.
As for modern China, some stuff they do that India doesn’t
2) The Tienanmen Square Massacre
3) Not allowing their own people to learn about the Tienanmen Square massacre
5)The persecution/mass murder of Falun Gong
6) Denying independence to Hong Kong/reneging on their
7) Becoming the most polluted country in the world and they are going to run out of water in 15 years.
As for Rojova….ok lets have a look
1)Some Kurdish reports, good job there http://www.kurdwatch.org/syria_article.php?aid=3428&z=en&cure=240 http://www.kurdwatch.org/index.php?aid=3450&z=en&cure=1029

3) The Times http://www.thetimes.co.uk/tto/news/world/middleeast/article4456567.ece
4) We have the UN Civil Rights Council “Report of the independent international commission of inquiry on the Syrian Arab Republic: Twenty-fifth session” “Selected testimonies from victims of the Syrian conflict: Twenty-seventh session”
Would you look at that? Its almost like if you did some basic research you would find it out. But seriously, is this just a pattern, lets deny the voices of the actual victims in question here? We have people who have said they went to Gulags, that they were in the Ukrainian famine, their their families were killed by Staln, that the Soviets raped them, that they starved in the Great Leap Forward, that they were beaten in the Cultural Revolution, that they were arrested for being Falung Gong, those people exist. We have their first hand accounts, some of them are still alive. The Gulag Archipelago was not written by a dude with a fancy imagination, he was actually there. Now the Kurds were actually genocides against by the Turks, by the Iraqis, by the Syrians that all actually happened, and I didn’t deny that at any point, that doesn’t mean that the Kurds can’t do crimes as well. The Croats did a genocide to the Serbs, and the Serbs went around and then committed a genocide against the Bosnians, being a victim doesn’t make you just and oppose a monster doesn’t make you a hero. Can you get me first hand accounts of people who saw the deaths of millions of Americans during the Great Depression?
What next, you going to tell me that North Korea is healthy?
Again, I don’t like Capitalism, but if we close our eyes and pretend that communism wasn’t a disaster is just inviting new disasters.
