Happy pride month specifically to folks on the asexual and aromantic spectrum who oftentimes feel isolated and left out of the conversation. You belong here as much as the rest of us and I hope that you are all loved in a way that is comforting to you.
Vampire girl explaining that vampires donβt necessarily have to kill someone to drink their blood, but she did kind of kill a lot of people back when she was all depressed pre-transition: βwhen I was an egg I ate four dozen ladsβ

Obviously the worst depiction of orcs is the classic "they're all evil" version, but I'm still dissatisfied with the slightly-less-worse "orcs seem like warlike savages but! they have a culture of Honorβ’" version. I think the problem, other than the fact it's sort of a cliche for fictional "warlike" races, is that it's usually just an attempt to patch over the bad implications, without really exploring or questioning what ideas went into building the original archetype in the first place. Why were they designed the way they were? What are each of their classic traits meant to suggest, and what do those traits actually mean in real life? How might our misunderstanding of other cultures have impacted the worldbuilding there? What are/were those cultures really like? Which stereotypes are false, and what cultural traits might they have that feel unexpected? In what ways are they relatable? Who are they apart from violence? Who could they be?
