the family drama i’ve hinted at is thus: old D was married to macavity and munkustrap’s mother (lankiest woman on earth apparently) but late into the marriage had an affair with a younger woman, tugger’s mom. she wasn’t up to raising a baby so old D took tugger in and it was the last straw to break his marriage. munkustrap doesn’t hold any grudge against tugger (if he ever did, he got over it ages ago) but tugger still subconsciously fears that everyone blames him for tearing up their family. this fear often shows through in ugly ways during arguments, which is why tugger was such a mess in that one comic… yeah……

also, macavity was always somewhat of a black sheep in the family but he seriously crossed a line when his teenage bullshit put baby tugger in some pretty real danger - which is why he’s kind of disowned and nobody hears from him much. tugger has to struggle with the additional angst of growing up to resemble macavity more and more cuz they both be wild lol
