hi! if i may add my thoughts on esat - i honestly think he's a terrible parent. the way he treats tahir as if he's lesser, weaker, never quite enough, the way he talks about his illness like it's something that disqualifies him as a person... it's heartbreaking. and he's not much better with his daughter either. throwing her abortion in her face and basically telling her she failed as a wife and mother while questioning her right to have a place at the table? that's cruel. and then there's erkan. he's clearly the favorite, but even he isn't spared. esat forced him to come back home, pushed him to give up his dreams of a music career, and wanted him to marry someone he didn't love — despite knowing firsthand how miserable that kind of marriage can be. i honestly haven't been able to look at him the same way since the scene where he made tahir take off his clothes in the cold and said he'd beat him if he wasn't afraid tahir would have a seizure and die. he's also responsible for a lot of the resentment between his children. years of favoritism, comparisons, and impossible expectations have done real damage to that family. but somehow, with dicle, there's something different. something he doesn't seem to have with his own children. when he called ,,daughter'', i actually felt a little emotional, which i never thought would happen with an esat scene. maybe it's because she isn't his child, so he doesn't burden her with all those expectations. or maybe she surprised him by being much stronger and more determined than he ever expected. i feel like something started to shift when erkan told him that dicle was the one who saved the deal, or maybe even earlier when she insisted on working at the company. sorry for the long ramble but there are so many layers to this show that it's impossible to talk about them in just a few sentences.
no omg THISSS. I literally have nothing to add because you actually explained what I'm feeling perfectly about esat.
I was so turned off to his character until he started having those softer scenes with dicle -- I started to get extremely emotional as well.
i think that seeing so many characters that started off cold, unforgiving, etc., and have been met with moments of extreme vulnerability is not just insane to watch, but it's a reminder that we're all human in the end.
the aldur family isn't normal by any means, and they have so many emotional barriers to prevent them from looking weak, not just for the company, but for their image overall. the situations that dicle has brought about them is an incredible catalyst in character development for all of them. she was definitely a blessing to them even if it upturned everything.
in the best way possible, dicle (in relation to the aldurs) reminds me of the tower card. everything must fall before it rebuilds into a stronger, more invulnerable and altogether BETTER structure.
inci can still catch these hands though.
