I’m just so emotional about all of this. I literally tear up at every post that I see. I guess having two black mothers, two black fathers, a black sister, a black brother, black friends, a black godson, black neighbors, and more makes me see things differently. It’s so horrible that this is the reality of OUR lives and it has been for hundreds of years. I think what scares me most is that even though I haven’t known any of these victims, it almost feels like it’s getting closer and closer to me. Like the chances of someone in my personal life, close to me and dear to me, will be next. And that breaks my heart. That makes me scared. And that also makes me mad. Being black and loving black people seems to be equivalent to being in a constant state of fear. A constant state of “who will be next”. It’s an unfair way to live. And people are tired and I’m tired too.
