🐺 Nazgul the Wolfdog’s Olympic Escape! 🇮🇹❄️ TESERO, Italy — One of the most unexpected moments of the 2026 Winter Olympics didn’t come from the podium… it came from four paws. During the Women’s Team Sprint Cross-Country Skiing qualification at the 2026 Winter Olympics, a two-year-old Czechoslovakian Wolfdog named Nazgul suddenly bounded onto the snow-covered course — and straight into Olympic history. Nazgul isn’t a stray. He belongs to a staff member at a local inn in Tesero. With the village buzzing from Olympic crowds, noise and activity, he reportedly slipped out through a gate that hadn’t latched properly. Drawn by the excitement — and perhaps by instinct — he followed spectators toward the race venue. As skiers powered toward the finish, Nazgul appeared on the track, running with effortless athleticism. For a few surreal seconds, he matched the rhythm of elite cross-country athletes before officials calmly guided him off the course. No one was injured — and most importantly, Nazgul was quickly and safely reunited with his understandably shaken but relieved owner from the inn. The Czechoslovakian Wolfdog (also known as the Czechoslovakian Vlcak) was originally developed in 1955 by crossing German Shepherds with Carpathian wolves, bred for stamina, resilience and endurance. Watching Nazgul glide over the snow, it was clear: this was terrain his breed was built for. What could have been chaos became one of the most heart-warming moments of the Games — a reminder that sometimes nature has its own plans. And honestly?
