hi. i really, really need everyone to see this gif of someones frog i just saw on reddit
look at her go
this is my leopard gecko wheel propaganda post now
promote physical health (walky!)
promote mental health (fun!)
extremely cute to watch them toddle about in there
they love to sleep squished under them
apparently promotes healthy bowel movement (prepare for poopy wheel)
genuinely i know it looks silly and weird but it changed my leos life they use 2-4h a day just calmly walking
it reduced them scrabbling at the glass doors
my friend who has a disabled leo got him one and he is now moving so much more, which is good for his legs (muscles being built)
it's really cute
wheels should be at least 20cm diameter and solid, the wooden ones are great for grip and safety
leos don't go faster than this. successful wheel usage looks like Popcorn is demonstrating
Red Pumpkin Toadlet (Brachycephalus pitanga), family Brachycephalidae, endemic to Atlantic Rainforest in Sao Paolo State, SE Brazil
Comparison with termites and rhinocerous beetle (Enema sp.)
Poisonous.
As with other Brachycephalus sp., they lay a few eggs in moist terrestrial locations, and the young live as tadpoles in the eggs, and then hatch out as froglets.
Adults reach a max. snout vent length of up to 14 mm (0.55 in).
They are actually unable to hear their own advertisement calls, as their ears are underdeveloped.
They also do not hop, but instead slowly crawl across the forest floor.

A giant ichneumon wasp (Megarhyssa macrurus) uses her extremely long ovipositor to drill into a dead maple tree. Megarhyssa includes species with the longest ovipositors of any insect (up to 11 cm in M. macrurus and up to 14 cm in its cousin M. atrata), which also technically gives them the longest total length of any hymenopteran insect. The ovipositor is used to pierce deep into dead or dying trees to lay eggs on the larvae of a large wood-boring sawfly (Tremex columba).
Her ovipositor acts not only as a drill but as a sensory organ, and is highly sensitive to vibrations in the wood made by the sawfly larvae. Note how the translucent membranes of her abdomen stretch as she applies pressure by curling the base of the ovipositor, then retract when she withdraws to search for a different spot.

Members of this genus are sometimes called "Thornytail Iguanas", but are not in the iguana family.

Teeny tiny orange toadlet found in Brazil
A unique mating call led biologists to this newly discovered pint-sized amphibian.
A new pumpkin toadlet species was recently discovered in the mountains of southern Brazil. Brachycephalus lulai is just over one centimeter (only 0.39 inches) long and the size of a pencil tip. It’s a completely new species of frog, and detailed in a study published this week in the journal PLOS One. “This new species is unique due to a combination of many characteristics,” Marcos R. Bornschein, a study co-author biologist at the Universidade Estadual Paulista (UNESP) in São Paulo, Brazil, tells Popular Science. “But it stands out because of its orange coloration and particular features of its advertisement call, including the presence of four pulses per note...”
