oikawa tooru is no king, but he is a nurturer. his hands are gentle; he must be, to tend to a garden without crushing its flowers. he weeds and works and sweats and suffers. he pulls up roots and lays the soil. even when the plants wither and wilt, oikawa tooru nurses them back to glory with calloused palms and stinging skin. there are many different flowers, in this garden of his, but this does not daunt him. he knows every name and meets every need. he sings to one and whispers to another. they grow, under his careful eye, unfurling petals and colors blinding and yearning for the sun. people stop and stare and they say, oikawa tooru did this. what does this mean to him, i wonder? what worth does it have? well, if you truly want to know - there is pride, and love, and what could be more valuable than that? oikawa tooru has no need for a cape or a crown. he is no king. he is a nurturer.
