So I broke my leg and currently use a wheelchair when I'm not at home. I have found that a lot of places that claim to be "wheelchair accessible" are not. The schools that I go to (I'm dual enrolled) are not wheelchair accessible. The main entrance doors on the buildings do have handicap buttons, but there is only one bathroom with a wheelchair accessible entrance in one school, and it's across the building from my class. They don't prop open the other ones either. The other school has no handicap accessible bathroom entrance doors, but they do keep all of them propped open. The handicap stalls in any public place I go to are also too small and I have to back my way into them. I went to the movies on Sunday to see a dual feature, and found that the only wheelchair accommodations they had was the ramps into the main building and theater after you got past the door, and wheelchair accessible seating. None of the main entrance, theater entrance, or bathroom entrance doors were handicapped, the handicapped bathroom stall was still too small, and the sinks were too tall. After discovering all of this, I am now realizing that public spaces that are actually wheelchair friendly are very scarce.

I am talking about my right tibia, which is also called the shin bone. It was halloween and I was at my bf's house. We were messing around in his living room with foam swords and I fell on the hardwood floor and screamed "F**K!" Once I got to the hospital i discovered that I needed surgery because my bone had snapped clean across. The surgery went well and I usually have mild to moderate pain. I am now using a walker for balance because it feels more stable than crutches.
