ITS DONE!

After 179 hours of stitching, too much black thread to count, and some very tired fingers, my Beleriand Map is complete!

But also not entirely complete, because I need to wash the pattern paper off and then quilt back it. This entire thing needs to go in my bathtub (it’s too big to fit in the sink!) and so I’m gonna be having nightmares tonight about it all falling apart when I go to wash it. It shouldn’t - it won’t - because that’s not how anything works, but my brain will still worry 😛

The sheer difference in lifespan in The Lord of The Rings makes for a weird comparison between like, Galadriel and Frodo's experiences of the ring.

Cos like for Frodo Sauron is this unfathomably ancient unknowable Lovecraftian evil who speaks in a forgotten tongue. But for Galadriel he's her asshole ex-roommate from her 20s who never paid rent and left the magical equivalent of a dead fish in the air conditioning when he moved out.
