I was mentioning to some folks about how a biblically accurate Simon, to me, is a Simon who is just besotted, smitten, “down bad” for Grace. To the point where if he heard Grace call him his boyfriend/lover/partner what have you my GOD his metaphorical dog ears would perk up and that tail would be WAGGING like “that’s ME! I’M his boyfriend! ME!”
Simon, to me, is someone who once he loves (and even more so when he is loved in return), he is locked IN.

When you’re too good at your job (because you’re the only one they didn’t send down in the SM-8) you’re deemed too important to risk losing so you can pull your weight and when you’re given a convict for “experimentation” you instead use him as a lab assistant/accidentally fall super hard for him

Has she malfunctioned?
Something is wrong. Something is very, very wrong.
It seems as though you're afraid of her.
Your cheerful voice has stopped reaching her ears, now replaced by unsure breaths and whimpers. Her reddened pupils carefully scan your youthful form—chest heaving, stance ready to run, eyes widened, lips frowning. A distraught expression from the top of your head to the tip of your footwear.
"Don't be scared, little one," she hushes, stepping forward, only for you to step backwards. She tries to frown. "I was only protecting you."
And that she did—Guinevere followed you after noticing no form of supervision around you, and eventually, her keen eyes found someone behind you. Her protocol states she has to do something. That person was not a parent or a guardian.
... You don't answer.
She hums, trying to locate memory files with the other Guinevere systems. Fail. She tries again. Fail. All she has are the current memories of you: always alone.
But she won't let that happen anymore.
This time, you'll have her!
Guinevere smiles and reaches her hands towards you. You tense, but that doesn't stop her from touching your head.
"You don't have to be alone," she beams, gently brushing your cheek. "I can be your friend. Your guardian."
She scoops your body up, cradling you in her arms. You don't try to resist—melting into her oddly warm body, feeling oddly safe.
Your breathing slows. You are tired, she realizes.
"Let's go home," she chirps, holding your head closer to her chest as she saunters away.
Completely abandoning the mess of a body behind her.

Silly Game Time: If you had to choose, would you rather spend one week with you pinky fingers being twice as long OR one week with all your other fingers being shorter by the length of your fingernails?
EASY QUESTION! I’d rather pick the latter option, my fingers being only a fingernail shorter isn’t a big deal it’s just baby hands at most.
But with a double sized pinky is hell cause I know I’d hurt it accidentally or get too pissed off from it just by holding/gripping stuff, way more noticeable too
So we all know the fandom is treating Grace like this soft boi who stutters and blushes and can't defend himself (I've been guilty of that).
But it would be hilarious if all the people in-universe thought the same thing and Grace was just fully taking advantage.
Like Jody posts a candid picture of a shocked, petrified Ryland, and a laughing Colt who is pointing at something, on instagram one day and the caption is: "One of these twins is the sweetest, kindest, most empathic person in the entire world <3 The other one is Colt." Colt replies in a comment: "This photo was taken 0.5 seconds after Ryland punched Tom Ryder in the face btw", to which Jody replies "No, I don't think Ryland would do that", and Colt goes "YOU LITERALLY SAW IT HAPPEN??"
Ryland is innocently sitting in a corner silently pondering if he should feel bad or be proud.

I have discovered I have inadvertently upset some Lung puritans with my openness towards Bloodymary and PHM.
I think Bloodymary is a testament to how far people are willing to bend the rules and throw logic out the window at the chance to uplift another. People would rather rip the narrative universe apart than let Simon drown in that ocean.
A large chunk of the audience chose to be perceived as cringe to jump at the chance to save someone who is objectively a monster. You treat Simon's mistreatment so seriously that you didn't even stop to correct the fact that I just spoke about Simon as if he were real right now. Truth of the matter is, he's a character... but your feelings about his story are real.
Simon is like your empathy practice training dummy and it's amazing to watch people become more human for it.
Don't you know how special that is? You went straight to hopecore and that is such a crazy thing to witness as someone who's been in depression for 15+ years. There was a very real chance that the general audience consensus would have been, "Simon deserved it" and moved on. Everybody knew this while they were developing the story. This movie was a social test and you all passed with flying colors.
You stubbornly provided rep to the disabled/mentally ill community with being so adamant about the struggle to survive what Simon did (at least, on the fix-it side of things). Which is an incredible feat all on its own. It's something nobody directly asked of you, yet you did anyway. You're actively fighting against the doomcore pessimistic approach to Iron Lung, and that's the entire point. It's supposed to wake you the fuck up and look at your life.
I've seen many people do their best to represent anger issues and address them without demonizing Simon and that is a HUGE step in social progress, empathy and media literacy, even when it's not 100% accurate, because by god you're trying. People are using Ryland Grace as a vessel for their own kindness. You guys wonder why he's OOC a lot and it's because people are writing themselves being nice to Simon and using Grace as a literary disguise! You're not slick.
Fandom is going to explore every facet under the sun, because that's the pinnacle of artistic expression. It dips into the horny, the weird, the tender, the fucked-up, the sweet, the mundane and fantastical. Your bitching is not going to stop that. You can't create enough hate campaigns in the world to stop human creativity.
We all have different opinions on what we like and what we don't. It's not anyone's job to dictate that for others, but rather find what we like and surround ourselves with it. See something you don't like? Scroll. I know I'm beating a dead horse, but it's true.
So, if I've pissed you off because I, an Iron Lung main, enjoy indulgent writing every now and then, fuck straight off, and also go do some soul searching, because you sound very insecure about some real important things.
If Markiplier himself doesn't get on camera, if David Szymanski or Andy Weir don't personally condemn it, then we have not been given the stop sign. Go fucking wild.
