but also because he has nuance as a character he’s also just a bit wrong about all that and a lot of that may just be his problem. when thingol and friends get the whole story they’re very much on his side. he doesn’t afford them the proper trust to understand him and care for him and that’s one of his flaws. but also you can hardly blame him for that flaw because he’s a 20yr old with a lost father (abandonment issues) and a mother who sent him away (abandonment issues x2.) he just fucking rules he’s just so well written for an author who is not imho great at character writing

in regards to nargothrond’s destruction i think túrin acts as an accelerant of fate, not necessarily a direct cause of it. proximity to túrin increases the speed that your doom finds you, not the certainty.
