Many actors in the show were not well known before Prison Break and therefore marks the show as the project that put them on the map. These actors include Wentworth Miller, Dominic Purcell, Sarah Wayne Callies, Amaury Nolasco and Robert Knepper. Although Robert had been acting for at least 20 years before PB, the series was what really got him recognized.

After the final season of Prison Break (Season 4) Wentworth Miller (Michael Scofield) and Dominic Purcell (Lincoln Burrows) did not see one another for the next 5 years. Wentworth got casted as Leonard Snart in The Flash then pitched Dominic to the casting crew when they were looking for someone to play Mick Rory. Once they started working together again, they began to discuss bringing Prison Break back. They pitched the idea to Fox (Who were huge fans of the show) and then Fox started the process of Prison Break Season 5.
