More Espresso for that Depress-o?

So, since they're all brain scan copies, what if we follow some video game logic and say that The Amazing Digital Circus has multiple different save files?

Each save can branch off into completely different circumstances for the characters. Alternate universes, if you will!

Let's say in one of these files, we get the "Ragatha Abstraction" ending. Jax loses his shit as he did in the episode 9 scenario, BUT before he can ruin everybody's digital lives, Ragatha from another saved file gets imported into that circus, and now the cast has to deal with the consequences of Ragatha's return.

New Ragatha be like: Damn y'all, wth happened?!

The entire cast (excluding Jax):

Meanwhile, the villain (I mean Jax):

Doomed situationship saves the circus! Hurray!!

Or does it? Maybe the other saved file wants their Ragatha back!

WWE wrestling match between the saved files, anyone? Who are we placing our bets on?

Across the Spider-Verse? No!

We legit don't see Kinger or Ragatha's rooms. Outside of the merch for Ragatha, there's nothing.

I think I'm recognizing one of the main problems with TADC: the experience is vastly different for those who keep up with the social pages and those who don't.

As I mentioned earlier in an earlier post about the episode spotlights, I think fans are more upset when direct promises fall short.

While it is good that an indie creator is willing to communicate with the fanbase so directly, I think it's happening to a fault. Social media should be used for easter eggs and perhaps inconsequential lore facts that wouldn't serve the narrative.

An example being Jax's tryphobia. It isn't exactly elaborated on in the show. While it's a fun fact, it doesn't serve much as a narrative purpose.

It would've been better as a Tumblr ask.

However, fans have started to bring up good points that a good chunk of the show's stories rely on people being aware of her social media. Ribbit was popular in the fandom, and still is, but she was revealed on a Tumblr page. We had to learn both her name and her gender before the show gave us details.

Mind you, we learn Ribbit's real name as a passing comment in episode 7 from Ragatha.

Another person made a good point that Queenie's name is not mentioned within the show by any other character. The information was also found on Tumblr.

I remember seeing similar issues with Hazbin Hotel/Helluva Boss, though I'm not up to date with both series, as I'm not interested.

The point is, for indie to progress, I think creators are going to have to stop using Tumblr and social media as additional prerequisites for storytelling.

Am I wrong or is there no scenario for Kinger abstracting?

Like, he just isn’t there.

I suppose you could argue that Jax doesn’t care about Kinger, but like how it that satisfying?

In the scenario where Ragatha abstracts, we obviously don’t get to see much of her. Just Jax’s reaction.

Kinger’s abstraction would’ve been the perfect time to see more of Jax’s perspective on her.

Me personally, I think we’d either see him resentful of Ragatha’s “ruse” of positivity. In this case, we would see the extremes of her toxic positivity.

Or, the second option, which I find more interesting, is seeing Ragatha snap. If Jax believes that Ragatha’s kindness is fake, this would be the perfect scenario of seeing what he believes to be the worst of her.

Maybe grief leads her to becoming angry and more hostile. Maybe Jax likes it, but only at first, as their squabbles become full blown arguments, and Ragatha seems to know exactly where to hit.

It could’ve touched on his insecurities if the show even dared to use her for something other than to be a plot device.

Why is the show so afraid to use Ragatha?

That’s so crazy to me! Including how the story just skips over Kinger! He’s been reserved as a tool for exposition himself in the final episode.

Like god, why introduce the show with all these cool characters, just to turn around not use them?

I would’ve much rather the series be honest from the get go about who the focus of the show was, instead of getting me interested in the promise of an ensemble show.

You can’t just replace filler and important moments with montages and text that says, “a few days later.” Because then there isn’t no story, there’s just an empty hole for assumptions and questions to fill.

Even more so with Ribbit and Kaufmo. I knew the ending couldn’t give them justice, especially with the runtime of the movie, but I was still excited to see Kaufmo.

We have such limited knowledge on him and I left the theatre knowing little more.

He doesn’t even talk that much. Most conversations and scenes with him just have him sitting beside Ribbit or Jax, quietly with a smile. We didn’t even get to see how “awful” he was before abstraction.

Didn’t get to see Ragatha’s reactions, not Gangles, not Kingers—hell, we don’t even get to see Zooble’s experience upon entering the circus.
