Hamilton Among F1 Stars Honoured As Hungaroring Announces Corner Names To Celebrate 40th Anniversary

The Hungaroring has announced the new official names of its corners as part of the Hungarian Grand Prix's 40th anniversary celebrations, with Lewis Hamilton amongst the stars to be honoured. During last year's event, fans were invited to take part in a vote on what the names should be. These suggestions were then reviewed by a panel of experts, which included motorsport professionals who have worked at the circuit since the inaugural Hungarian Grand Prix in 1986, as well as leading representatives of the specialist motorsport media. The result has seen the likes of Hamilton, Nigel Mansell, and Jean Alesi have corners named after them – and as part of the celebrations, all three of these drivers have also left their handprints, which will be cast in concrete and permanently installed in the run-off area of the circuit.

so, this is Ferrari's Macarena wing 2.0 that's going to be used in the 2026 Hungarian GP.

here's a clearer picture:

because the wing is mounted on the sides of the actuator, there is no central system aka the cover that traditionally sits in the center of the rear wing. this means the hanger flaps can run even in Straight Line Mode, but more crucially, it means that other teams can't copy this specific design, without having to drastically change their wing.

the upgrade is said to provide more downforce, worth 30kph (will update this with a source once I find it!)

bravo, Loic Serra + team, we love to see Ferrari leading with clever innovations like these. ❤️

(side note: McLaren are also introducing their version of the rotating rear wing, to test in FP1 in Hungary, but the final model will likely be introduced in Monza.)

said it over and over again and i guess i’ll say it again: it really is heartbreaking seeing the fia treat lewis this way. he is in a title fight and could win an historic 8th, and they are already doing all they can to nerf that. this feels very reminiscent of 2021 where they kept throwing penalties at him and when that didn’t work, took away his 8th. i hate this sport with every fibre of my being.

lewis and oscars are like sisters in the sense that they're fighting against a favorite child who cant even race that well, penalties are never in their favor, and i like them both
